AJ, wishing you the best this Thanksgiving. I too have spent many a holiday somewhat alone due to work schedules. If I'm working nights on the holidays then I only see the family for a few minutes before heading to bed or a few minutes before heading out to work again. I know it's not the same situation but then again there are some similarity between the two.

AJ, I hope you had a good day in spite of the circumstances. I have walked in those shoes and they are lonely shoes.

Mable and I had a good trip. We worked at cleaning out the farm house; Dad was a pack rat - and I say that with love and sadness. I also had business to attend to regarding the farm and the trust as well as another 40 acres of mountain property near Waynesville, NC that is part of the trust. I am putting that 40 acres in a tree farm in order to get a property tax break.

Mabel and I are looking into to purchasing the farm house and ten acres from the trust. I lined up the surveyor and the appraiser while we were there. We met with the surveyor and showed what we want to purchase. Our plans are to make that our summer home and have our winter home at the ranch near Lake City.

The property near Waynesville is at 3000ft/914 meters elevation. The first photo is taken from gate looking south. The property is at the end of the road.

The next two pics are of the valley on the way up to the property.

Mabel and I hiked to Anna Ruby falls.

Welcome back Carl, it sure has been quiet around here without you filling in the Big Kahuna role.

Wait a minute, who are you and what have done with Carl & Mable? :y100: We all know Carl doesn't carry a camera with him, so fess up, just who the heck are you?

All the photos this imposter posted showed up for me. :y2:

Thanks, Harry. We hope so, too. My son also wants to buy a couple of acres of the farm and build a vacation cabin. The total farm size is 83 acres. About 2/3 of it is cleared and in pasture. The remaining 1/3 is woods. Our tenants who have the pasture leased are interested in buying the remainder and we will probably sell to them.
