Don't know if anyone has run into this before, but I tried to replace my oil filter, Triumph Part T1218001, made by Wix-Filtron and with a Castol logo, with a new oil filter, Triumph Part T1218001, made by Mann+Hummel. The new one would not catch the filter adaptor threads and I could not get it installed. Sticking with the "old" filter (less then 1,200 miles on it but changing oil and filter for the winter, as is my practice since 1966). The Mann and Wix filters have identical markings, but the thread hole on the Mann filter is just slightly wider than on the Wix filter. Anyone else have this experience?

Sounds like the new filter was mislabelled or put in the wrong packaging.
Hmmm. But a different thread hole should be a different part number. Did the original's part number come off the filter, or out of the owner's manual? Was there, possibly, thread tape on the threads of the old one, or the mount point?
The part number was on both filters, and is what Mother Triumph says is the right filter. No tape on the mounting pole or the filter. I am suspecting a manufacturing defect on the Mann filter, and will watch for that the next time. Or just use a K&N filter. Good reviews on those, and it has a 17-mm nut welded to the top to make it very easy to take off and put on. After spending money for a cap wrench. Oh well.
