OK they might be spectacular to look at, but not much fun if your this close. These have just been sent to me by my friend in Florida Ron Hawks. This flashed past his house moving west last night. Thankfully nobody was hurt

Not unusual. Water spouts are not infrequent along the coast during thunderstorms. Glad they did not cause any damage.

I think that this would put the wind up me, but I suppose you live with this sort of thing on a daily basis, so are used seeing this sort of thing
I was watching one in Galveston a few years back, awesome sight. As I sat there in my car watching it I finally realized what I was doing, sitting in a CAR watching a water spout headed toward the beach a little ways in front of me. Needless to say, I vacated the area. I later heard it had damaged some of the cars parked along the beach, tossing a couple of them into the street but none of the folks on the beach were injured.
They are nothing to pay around with for sure.
