This is probably an appropriate time and place to ask ...
Today I've been looking at getting a new bigger mobile plan to replace an outdated expensive small plan that I've been on for many many years.
They are offering for free a couple of smart phones, HTC Salsa, LG Optumus Black or Nexus S or for some extra $$$ a "4S iphone" are the iphones that good when I can get one of the others for free?

Re: "Error Loading Page" on iPhone

I only know the Blackberry as it is my first smart phone so maybe some one else has more input into this. I hear Android is the one to go for but I may be wrong in saying this

I have a Blackberry and enjoy using it - my son has a Samsung Galaxy and loves it. Actually I think his Samsung is better than my BB. Every brand other than iPhone can take Android apps - iPhone is a great phone but locks you into Apple products only. Samsung Galaxy Tab is definitely better than the iPad - by far - tried and tested.

I use an iPhone so that is all I have very much experience with. Next time I would look at the Samsung Galaxy and the iPhone 4S.

I know iPhone users that have switched to Androids and Android users that have switched to iPhones so it would appear which ever is best is like which oil is best.

Good luck in your search.

My Son and Daughter both had Android phones and both had problems with them. They both now have the latest iPhone 4S and they LOVE them. I see that Motorola has a new model Razr with Android which is the thinnest phone on the market and I've always had very good luck with Motorola phones for dependability.

Thanks for your comments. It's a tough decision as it's all tied up with my use and costing of land line phone, computer connection and existing mobile service. No point in getting any deeper into it other than the handset quality as local costings don't mean much to others.

I will say that the iPhone will take a beating moreso than the other smart phones running Android (for what that's worth to you). And for a fairly cheap charge, you can get Apple Care for the iPhone which will warrant it better than what most phone insurance does.

I can tell you that Apple's customer service sucks, at least here. It is not that their techs are incompetent; it is the long wait. I just exchanged an Iphone under warranty for my rancher friend. There is no Apple store in her area. It took me two days and about nine hours total time.

We have Apple Stores and their service is great...but they DO want you to phone ahead and make an appointment.

For better or worse I picked up the 4S iPhone today.
This may be better in today's joke area ...
My daughter has the same phone and doped in on her way home from work to give the "old man" some tips. She showed me all kinds of things, when she actually called me from her phone to check the earphones (re bike riding under helmet) they worked fine. I then removed the earphones and put the phone to my ear to tell her to hag up. Almost no volume, we tried all kinds of settings and then gave up and went to Google search. The first answer was "Have you removed the plastic cover from the front of the phone" .... :y8:.
Obviously I wasn't the first to fall into that trap. :y11:

I've got an Otter case for my iPhone, it has paid for itself many times. A friend dropped her iPhone off her bike at 70+ MPH, turned around to go find the pieces of her iPhone but found the phone still in working order with no damage. I highly recommend an Otter case for all smart phones. I dropped my phone while walking and before it hit the floor I kicked it into a brick wall, I too thought I had ruined my phone but I was wrong, no damage done.

I went for the screen protector and this leather open-close wallet type of thing.
It even had a place in the flap for credit cards.
I don't know how good it will be if I drop it when surfing the net while riding at freeway speeds.:y15:
