For a quick fix on the road for a flat tire, would Slime do the trick for my Bonneville.
I tried to google it but got confusing answers.

You are welcome. My understanding is that if the tube is torn or ripped, it will not work. It does work for punctures. I had a nail puncture. I tried it because I had nothing to lose.

You are correct, works for punctures, not rips, or slashes. I've use it in all of our dirt bikes, have found several punctures plugged in tubes when tires were replaced. I know I need a new tube anytime the bikes won't hold air.

The Slime remains just like it was in the bottle until a leak occurs, as the air is moving out the Slime moves to the leak.

For handling you will notice one difference, a balanced wheel/tire. The Slime will act like Dyna-Beeds or other such balancers.

I'd never thought about carrying a bottle for leaks while on the road.

Many of the tube brands for bicycles, especially mountain bikes are producing tubes that are pretreated with Slime.

8 ounces per motorcycle tire per Slime packaging. I've been known to use 4 ounces per tire on our race bikes but that was usually due to only having 8 ounces on a race weekend and having to change two tubes, my son has a habit of ripping off valve stems when he has a tube failure.

Just one question then if it seals straight off how do you know you have a puncher that may need further attention

Good question Dave...My not so good answer... I don't know.

I've only noticed it had worked when a tube was replaced and saw where it had worked.

Tony's method is fine for off road riding. I would not want to depend on it for high speed road road riding. I will use Slime if I need it; but I will replace the tube ASAP.
