I came across this US company called "Sheplers" and decided to give them a try. They don't send Levi jeans outside the US for contract reasons so I've ordered some Wranglers and a pair of cowboy boots, but get this, all for a snick over the price of a pair of Levis in Australia.:y2: If the boots are poor quality I haven't lost much, Wranglers must be the same the world over so I think I'm safe on that one.

The tracking has them moving around places that I've never heard of before.

The product looks good on the screen, I sure hope it's OK, if so I'll be getting heaps from them after this test.

I was also impressed with this tracking story when I ordered stuff from the US some time back, it is almost fun watching your item moving around from place to place like that

I've had to laugh at a couple of the tracking scans I've received over the years when they come from our Hare Scramble sponsor, my parts arrive prior to the scans appearing. I guess it's good to know where my factory race parts have been before they get here. :y2:

Maybe I need to set up my own Levi's distibution service to the Land Down Under so y'all can get some good jeans. Don't tell any Texans I don't wear Wranglers. . . I'm a "rocker" not a "goat roper" I've got an old pair of Wranglers but don't wear them unless they are the only ones in the closet. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with Wranglers, it's just an image thing here in Texas.

Re tracking, I had no idea what KY or KS was so just checked the path of my stuff on Google maps.
Wichita Kansas to Lenexa Kansas then on to Louisville Kentucky, OH NO, it's going east. When I've had things sent from US to Australia in the past they go west to LA X. I sure hope my stuff isn't going to Austria.:y13:

When I worked for Australia Post it never ceased to amaze me how many letters were mixed up between Austria and Australia.

Louisville is the UPS Worldport Hub so it will now either be headed south or east, hopefully not east. :y13:

Worldport is the worldwide air hub for UPS (United Parcel Service) located at the Louisville International Airport in Louisville, Kentucky. Although UPS has had a hub at Louisville since 1980, the term was not used officially by the company until 2002, after a $1 billion, five-year expansion.[SUP][1][/SUP] Previously, the project was named "Hub 2000." The facility is currently the size of 80 football fields and capable of handling 84 packages a second, or 416,000 per hour.[SUP][2][/SUP] With over 20,000 employees, UPS is one of the largest employers in Louisville, and in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The facility mainly handles express and international packages and letters. Worldport serves all major domestic and international hubs.

Wow, "The facility is currently the size of 80 football fields and capable of handling 84 packages a second". That's as good as 10 million per day. Two days work and they could send a package to every person in Australia, or Austria.:y15:

Hopefully they don't lose one little package.

Monday night, well actually about 2:30 AM Tuesday morning I placed an order with the Baylor University Bookstore for a graduation gift for my son. We received the tracking scan Tuesday night that said it was ready to ship, the package arrived Wednesday afternoon and the pickup scan/tracking email arrive Wednesday night four hours after it was delivered. Hopefully yours will be almost as quick.

Kevin, I regularly do business with Sheplers and have for years. They have a store in Orlando. I have been in their stores across the US. You may find the boots to be of lesser quality than the boots from Australia - depending on the brand. I am careful in selecting the boots that I buy.

Tony, I used to wear Levis exclusively - until the company began supporting anti-gun groups and other liberal causes. In the last 20 years, I wear Wranglers - and not for the image. For me the Rodeos fit right and wear very well.

I am afraid you will going be disappointed with the boots. I have been wearing western style boots for a very long time and have not been able to purchase a good pair under $250. I like Wilson boots from Montana, Olathe boots from Kansas, and Tony Lama from Texas. I messed up an ankle in the navy 50 years ago and the higher heel of these boots cuts down on the pain. Wrangler jeans have alway been the best for me until my belly got to big. Wrangler shirts used to be the best. You could buy them by selecting neck size and sleeve length, but now they are all imported and sizes are all letters and don't fit as well. The pockets are too small and just not what the shirts used to be. I guess I am just old and wish for the old days.

Thanks for the reassurance that they are a well established company.

Thanks for the comments. I do have a pair of very high quality (Aust made) western boots that cost big bucks. This exercise is to figure out my US size without spending too much money. Then I can take advice such as already given and purchase better products. It's an education and if they don't fit I can give them to the charity shop and try another size.

BTW,
The parcel had a two hour stay-over in Honolulu.

I wear wranglers, but i get em at target for less than on that page. I pay about $17. About $15 on sale. In fact, till recently i was buying thier "legendary gold" which i guess was thier house brand, and all they were is relabeled wranglers. The exact wrangler jean they sell for $17 but with a different name and they were $12 ! (was sad to see they no longer have them) You wouldn't catch me EVER buying levis ! They don't fit me near as well, wear out more than twice as fast, and cost a ridiculous $40-45 !!! I have no idea how they can stay in business just relying on their name with those stats !
