Around 21 years back Roxette were in town but unfortunately being on holiday and out of town we missed it. So it has been a dream of my wife's to someday see them performing live. So last night we filled that dream of hers and went to a live performance here in town.

The opening act was Watershed and I have always enjoyed their music so that was a bit of a bonus all round to see them as well. They played a good few of their better known hits this side plus a few new songs that have still to be released

We had a short break while they prepared the stage for Roxette and that was understandable. When the time came everyone went wild as they started their concert.

This was one of the songs that I was particularly looking forward to seeing live because of the group dynamics and just the overall sound of it.

Well the concert really turned out to be a bitter sweet event due to the ill health of Marie Fredriksson and as swe know she is the big feature of the band. She is now so frail that she could not even walk onto the stage unassisted. They had a chair for her that we was helped onto and that is where she stayed throughout the performance.

The sound that they still produce however is still very good so if you did not see her battling through the show you might have overlooked the fact that she is very ill. Unfortunately the overall stage dynamics were severely compromised as she normally was the one jumping around on stage going wild. Her being very much static as she was just took away from the rest of the band being as dynamic as they were.

So am I glad I went, yes I suppose I am. Was I disappointed, yes hugely so.

So the next question at what point should a band stop doing live shows like this?
