I lost one of my other spiders, a spiderling Avicularia urticans. Sad. CRY

The other are doing okay, the bird eater is fat and I can't wait for a molt.

I've also got my Costa Rican tiger rump and Curlyhair mature males out on a breeding load with the local reptile shop. Hope they get a few bonks in before the females eat them.

Okay..... sweeet.

The Brazillian is gorgeous!

And your Pink Toe sure looks different than mine with that rust colored rump. Mine has a black rump.

My Greenbottle Blue grew like crazy at first, but it's slowed way down and hasn't molted in a very long time....I've been wondering if it needs a larger enclosure???

Yeah, no bug spray allowed in my house I'm afraid.

The Avic sp is so messed up Seeker. Nobody wants to sort it out either, Avic avics are notorious for looking different because of this. Probably due to cross breeding and mis-identification.

If you want to speed up a molt, boost the temp and double the feeding. GBB can handle large spaces better than Brachy's so rehouse if you come across a cheap tank.

Spiders are one thing I just cannot get around and being bittern by one and having a crater in my leg still makes it even worse. However I do know how people can feel about their pets but really I cannot even stand looking a photos of them BLUSH

Seeker: Any chance that this will be a mature molt? I've noticed on all my males, the final molt took a long time.

Gromit, I think you can compare them to dogs - in the way that different parts have different textured hairs. My pink toe's leg hairs are very soft, but on their abdomen it's a little harder. My other tarantulas have barb like hairs on their abdomen, they like to kick these off when feeling threatened. Itches like mad, a bit like fiberglass.
Yes the blue is common here in SA (the hobby in this country is pretty limited, but growing every year). If you like blue spiders, do a google image search for 'Singapore blue tarantula, and Cobalt blue tarantula, and Avicularia purpuria'. Singapore blues were going for about R700.00 for a one inch specimen. Not cheap. lol

Originally, itching powder was harvested from tarantulas.

I wish I had never clicked on this thread....ick. Makes me thankful up where I am it is to cold for bugs/spiders to get that big.....one of the benefits of it being winter for what seems like most of the year.

LOL......:y2:

I live in a cold climate too, but of course I keep my Tarantulas indoors (with thermostatically controlled heating pads on their tanks).

Here's are my little babies....

Using "common-names" they are:

Mexican Rosehair

Pink Toe (Metallica)

I still wouldn't have a spider as a pet but Seeker and Avion posting photos of their 8 legged friends have helped me get over my total freak out about spiders to a degree and I'm now actually able to see how pretty some of these creatures are. Seeker, that Greenbottle Blue is really beautiful and I still love the name "Pink Toe" :)
