I watched several videos on how easy it is to simply remove the silencers to do a chain adjustment or remove the rear wheel. The nice looking blonde lady made it look so easy and simple. My issue is the left hand side with the extra lower support bracket. The bolt did not come out easy after removing the nut. Putting the silencer back on the hole did not line up without a struggle, I had to use a screwdriver inserted into the hole to pry the silencer into place. Even after that the bolt still would not easily slide in and would bind. Both ways I had to use a wrench to ratchet to bolt to go in or out (not sure I am explaining this right). Is this normal ? in all the videos that bolt simply slips in an out perfectly. Is there some kind of method I am missing ? I would also ad that I have a centre stand, It was on the centre stand during all of this.

I take another approach to chain adjustment which doesn't require the silencers to be removed.

I bought a couple of slim combination spanners and used a MAPP torch and vice to bend them into a shape which fits the adjusters and allows them to be loosed/tightened/adjusted with the silencers in situ. I did need to notch one of them just to allow a bit more rotation on one side. I'll try and post a photo later this week.

Chain adjustment is quick and easy now.

I have another question about the exhaust fitting. There is a gasket on the header pipe that the can fits over. I ended damaging that gasket and ordered a new one (they are cheap). I have read on other forums that they just use exhaust past as opposed to the gasket. Does this work just as well ?
I smear the gasket / exhaust pipe interface with ceramic brake grease - makes easier to fit and separate and does not destroy gasket. Exhaust paste would be wrong as it sets hard as car exhaust pipes are rarely dismantled, so you may struggle to remove silencers for chain adjustment or just cleaning the silencers. This should also permit easier alignment of the left hand bolt insertion, or use a tapered punch to align holes and fit this bolt first

Thanks for the info. For some reason my left hand silencer lower bracket is easier to line up if I put the foot peg bolt in first. You are correct about using a tapered punch to line up the hole..exactly what I ended up using. Using the brake grease is a good idea. The remove and install videos are not as simple as reality. All their holes and brackets line up with seemingly little effort at all ! In general...life would be so much easier if the pipes didn't block the rear axle nut and adjusting screws.
