On this day in 1836 the Alamo fell to the Mexican Army. 257 Texas volunteers held of 1500 Mexican for 13 days allowing General Sam Houston to amass his Army near the swamp that one day would become the City of Houston.
Those 257 Texas volunteers (some from Louisiana and Tennessee) were men that became Texas legends. Among them were the commanding officer, Colonel William B Travis, Davie Crockett and Jim Bowie.
We may need the ghosts of Travis, Crockett and Bowie to return to free us of the Mexicans again.
REMEMBER THE ALAMO.
