Plastic has been around for a long time in some format or other The History and Future of Plastics

I can however still remember the times when it was not that popular as it is today, getting our drinks in glass bottles and having those paper bags at the supermarkets. However these days it seems to be hard to find items that don't have some link to plastic in one way or other. It also seem that we are now starting to see the impact of plastic on our environment. We also see a number of the big chain supermarkets our side looking for alternatives for the packing of groceries. I have even had a few restaurants that don't use those plastic straws but have gone back to a type of paper.

Now I am not sure how it is in other countries but this side we really see the impact of plastic wast all over our country side. We don't really do recycling our side and most times these things are just dumped where they are used and we seeing site like this all around us.

So I am not sure what you all do about the plastic problem in your area.

It always amazes me how the environmentalist demand to move from one product to another to save the planet. We move from wood (paper) to oil (plastic) because its more environmentally friendly. They never looked at one (oil) is limited in supply and wood (paper) is renewable. One, oil (plastic) lasts for decades, while paper decomposes and adds nutrients. New wood growth adds oxygen and cleans up CO2.

Our side we seeing a lot of destruction due to plastic. Animals are getting caught up in it in some way and dying because of it. We see some bush ares covered in it from blowing in the wind and then getting caught up in the buses . We have rivers that are so puluted that the basically now toxic.
