Etienne's son has much better taste :y18:

I certainly would be happy to replace my RoadStar with that Guzzi, but my two Trumpets have to stay.....my new Tiger is more fun than a barrel of monkeys.

It can get worse, one of our club members has this, fortunately he also has a Thruxton.

Now, now, Kevin; there is nothing wrong with an Enfield. :y114:

If I were into touring, an HD Road King would be mighty appealing. HD's are well made, service is available almost anywhere in North America and, like most bikes today, they are utterly dependable. I am just not a cruiser guy; so I do not currently own an HD.

I would rather have an Enfield Clubman in my garage than ANY :y40: Harley....
I'd suggest you compare HD and Enfield reliability statistics. I guess you would rather drive a Yugo then a Ford.
As John McEnroe would have said:
You cannot be serious!!! :y22:

There is only one case I could agree with you though: if the Enfield was real and the Harley let’s say a 1:24 scale kit…
… just as long as it wouldn’t be a Franklin Mint scale model on which case I would still prefer it!

There is only one thing that Royal Enfield can be proud of: Constancy:
They NEVER EVER produced a good and reliable machine. Not in the UK nor in India! :y43:

Actually as I said before the Harley-Davidson VRSCDX Night Rod Special is one of my favourite bikes: The build quality is absolutely second to none and the Harley folks were smart enough to call Porsche and have them make a top engine. :y115:
A real sculpture all around! If it was not for the feet forward I would already have one.
But it is not too late yet!!!
Look at this masterpiece of engineering! :y18:

Yes it's possible that they are not reliable when they arrive from overseas, but before they are handed over to the buyer, they are taken apart, and completely rebuild. They get al alu tank and other parts to improve them overall. The Enfield you buy in Madras in indeed
of poor reliability. That's correct and I don't disagree. But my heart beats faster when I see , hear and smell a Brittish classic. Even an Enfield( I know, Enfields are made in India ) and
Motorcyclists in Belgium, where I live, salute each-other when they cross.
Harley owners only salute other Harley owners. in general. There will be one somewhere I suppose, who salutes, but I havn't met him so far.
If I should live in the USA, I would have another opinion about this. You have wide streight roads, max speed limits 60mph, cops who treath you like you're the worst criminal when they cath you for speeding. and long distances. that demands comfortable bikes, with stereo, cruise control and when possible an airco installation. Very diffrent conditions over here. When I drive 60 mls North, I'm in a diffrent country, Holland. East, 60 mls, I'm in Germany, South 60 mls, I'm in France. I drive 160 mls, take a ferry for an hour and 15 min. and I' in good old England. Completely diffrent situations, and we've diffrent preferences. Why not? You ride your HD in the States, when I had that Clubman, I would take it for a ride from time to time (not far from home for in case it broke down...)
Gentlemen, have a nice week-end .

Etienne, the Dude from Flanders :y18:

(is 1/2 part of Belgium, the North side) in the other parts, they even speak a diffrent languise :French in the south and German in the east.
imagine that ...

I was saving my pennies to buy a Harley Road King a couple of years ago for long distance riding, including a passenger, but when I realized how pathetic the passenger accomodations were for a "large" passenger, I started looking for something more appropriate. My Road Star has 15 inches front to rear for the pillion compared to only 11" for any Harley....quite a difference in comfort and handling. But, for my one-up touring, I will take my Tiger...best bike I have ever had for comfort/handling/economy/ so far. I have never had a stock seat that worked for me, but the Tiger's is just great. The riding position is comfy and the bike handles like a sports bike.

Anyway: It doesn't matter. I will never buy either one! :y18:

...but I'd rather ride that TBS.
Just come to Belgium and you may ride it to your heart's content.
It will be my pleasure to guide you around! :y18:
