Oil warning light

Just changed oil in my 2018 Speedmaster. Topped off went for a ride and now oil warning light is on. Wonder if too much oil pressure will cause this.

Did you over fill it? I have never seen too much oil cause the oil light to come on. Check your oil level in the sight glass.. If you are over full, drain some out. If you do not have enough oil, add some. Do not run the bike with the oil light on. It might be a faulty sending unit or it might be an oil pump failure.

I had an oil pressure light come on on my wife's 03 Bonneville T100. It turned out to be an oil pump failure. The plastic drive gear stripped. I replaced it with a brass gear. Take it to a dealer and get it checked out if you cannot check the oil pressure yourself.

I've had two Americas with the oil light coming on, on a cold morning. In both issues it was humidity on the oil electrical sensor device behind the heads. Remove the rubber cover from the oil sensor and apply a squirt of WD40 to chase away the moisture.......sorted!
Could be someting worse but start with the sensor rubber cover first after checking your oil, etc
