........no, not the end of the world, but the end of the riding season for me.
I usually wrap it up by the end of October anyway, but this AM the temp was 2C (35.6F) and will struggle to get up to 6-7C - and will only get colder with each passing day. Although it's sunny, this is not riding weather - even if some of my riding buddies tough it out over most of November hoping for a warmer day to get in a short ride.
I'm a fair weather warrior. When it's over, it's over.
This weekend I'll take the bikes out for a short run to heat up the oil before changing it, and then it's inside to their warm and dry basement for the long winter nap.
Although the early part of summer was quite wet, I was able to get in rides on sunny days - which is one of the joys of being retired. I can ride any day I wish.
When I retired 19 years ago I had no one near my age to ride with, but gradually many of my younger friends have reached retirement age and we get together during the week. No more waiting for the weekends.
My lakeside cottage has also been put to bed for the winter.
Such is life in Canada :y13: :y15:
Come on April.....are we there yet :y2:

Come on over - have 3 bikes in the garage and it's 30celcius today with no sign of rain..................

But can I ask you favour seeing as we don't get the cold white stuff here in S'Africa. At Xmas time, when you'll be all covered in snow, please take some xmassy pics and post for us. And I'll post some of us having a Xmas seafood bbq on the beach??

The odd thing is, we usually don't have a white Christmas.
It gets cold of course, but we usually don't get much snow until after 1 January or so.
Dead of winter and the really cold temps come during Jan. and Feb.
But you never know what will happen.
I'm old enough to remember when winter arrived in late November with plenty of snow and didn't leave until early March.
Not so these days.
BBQ at the beach???? You sure know how to hurt a guy :y2:

yup, is spring here and as I prefer to ride early in the day, I'm still having to wear a scarf as the temp is usually under 12c till mid morn.
Fortunately, I can ride year round, the only thing that keeps me of the bike is rain. I dont do wet.:)

I put both of the vintage bikes away yesterday and the Bonneville will go in today if it warms up some.
This AM I woke up to -1C (30F) :y13: :y8: and my furnace was on :y100:
Oh well, it's either that or freeze.
Supposed to be sunny today and get up to 8-9C so I should be able to take a short ride to heat up the oil before changing it.
A nor'easter is coming tonight so the H***a will have to wait for a couple of days until the storm passes and then it's really over for this year.
You can't do anything about the changing seasons - except move elsewhere - so you just put up with it.

Rocky,

Here's looking out my back door Saturday morning:

Oh brudder, what I sight :y19: Really too early for this sort of thing.
That same storm is over us today, but it's only wind and rain and the temp is up to 7C (45F).
Some northern areas were getting wet snow overnight.

Parts of New England got a FOOT of snow and 3 million+ are without electricity.
I'm just catching up on the Sunday news and was a bit shocked at what happened down in NE.
We dodged a bullet this time. Usually, what happens in NE, happens to us the next day or so.
This time it was just rain, but it's raining cats and dogs - to quote a popular phrase :y2:

Man I can not even imagine live like you guys do, here it gets cold in winter but you can still ride being around 8c - 13c at midday

I agree with you. I HAVE to be able to ride year round. :y2:

I don't usually start out in the wet; but I do get caught in rain plenty of times, especially on a long road trip. I can do wet and I can do cold (cold = temps slightly above freezing); but I do not do wet and cold.

I just hate this not riding etc. We had 28 degrees F this morning. AHHHHH,

Dave:y14:

That is about as cold as I will ride in. And only then if it is going to warm up into the 40's later in the day.

Snow-laden tree falls on home, killing Pa. man, 84

A snow-laden tree has fallen on a southeastern Pennsylvania home, killing an 84-year-old man who was napping in his recliner. State police say Charles Loder died instantly Saturday afternoon when the large tree fell on his house in Temple.
The unseasonable and powerful nor'easter dumped wet, heavy snow Saturday on parts of the mid-Atlantic region and New England. Eastern Pennsylvania has served as the bull's-eye for the storm.

Temple is about five miles north of Reading.
