I've been meaning to post this for a while now.

On my way to work I never used to see a single bike on the road, summer or winter. Over the past, say six months though I see more and more. Probably one more every week.
A couple of them are superbikes, but mostly it's the commuter type bikes. People saving on petrol and getting there faster.

Man I wish I didn't need a bakkie for work. I've even thought of leaving the bakkie at work and buying myself a little fuel sipper, thing is though the bakkie wouldn't stay at work for more than one night I bet.

Pity.

I guess you could call it a pickup or truck.

Looks like this:

But mine's white - like me bike. :y115:

I also wish I could use the bike to work but have to use my car for business as well. The big problem with all these bikes just appearing is that you have a lot more inexperienced riders in the heavy traffic.

I always thought Bakkie was somethin you stuck in your gob then set fire too!

Downunder, we call em "utes"... as in utility vehicle...

That there would be a pickup truck my friend, or it would be if it was a proper Chevy-dodge-or ford. Just yanking your chain. Yeah i know what ya mean though. This summer i have seen bikes pulled out of sheds that have'nt seen daylight in decades. Same with the helmets being worn and the leather that used to fit when the owner looked good. Ya can tell a well kept classic from the yahoo who puts in a new battery - oil-plugs and runs down the road on rock hard tires. I guess they think that because they rode once upon a time thay still have razor sharp skills.

It's national 'Ride to Work Day' here on Friday 3rd October. It gets some press coverage of how bikes are much more traffic friendly than cars etc.

So, I'll be riding the Sprint to work on Friday.

Unless it's raining, in which case I'll go in the cage  .

On a similar note, I wonder if it's my imagination.............BUT...........

since fuel exceded the R10 per litre phsychological barrier are people driving (cages) slower here in SA?

Sure looks like it to me.

While some in the US may have changed their driving habits, the whackos are still out there in their "high rise" FWD trucks and fancy cars, running like rabbits. I sure wish some of them would slow down a bit, and save some fuel, and maybe some lives.

Same here shyguy. When gas was $1.44 a liter a few weeks ago the nitwits were driving just as fast in their highway tanks which only goes to show that gas wasn't too expensive.
The speed limit on our four lanes is 110 kph (66 mph). I generally put my cruise on about 105 -108 kph and I get passed by the 4x4 truck and SUV crowd like I was parked. They go flying by like there was no tomorrow.
