This morning I wanted to test out my new summer riding pants from Moose Racing. The weather was supposed to be cloudy but rain free and in the mid seventies to lower eighties. Wind was negligible. I chose the Thruxton R to ride for this intial evaluation since it has higher pegs than everything I have except the Speed Triple RS. I wanted to find if the air flow over the pant would keep my legs cool since the material is fairly thin with a mesh lining. Results after 3 hours of riding (about 1 tank worth) is these are very airy pants. They let the air through fairly well including the engine heated air at certain speeds. Overall very comfortable and non binding on knees, hips, crotch. Down side is no pockets, so I had to carry my wallet, cell phone, and garage remote in my jacket. Not a major problem.
The Thruxton was pretty flawless too, I did one time slide the rear tire some when I got really hard on the throttle, but otherwise it was a hoot and a half in the tight twisty stuff. I have found that I don't remember to switch to SPORT mode before taking off, so have now mastered the rolling switch by hitting the mode button, wait for the 'sport' to flash on the tach face then pull the clutch and it turns solid. Then the motor is way more responsive and a lot more fun. My brakes may need a little bleeding. the initial braking pressure wasn't great, a tad spongy, but after a few squeezes on the handle it was all good. I'm thinking take a little fluid from the handlebar perch nipple should do it. I really enjoyed the motor going through the curves as I could add power early and keep it tucked into my intended line. Overall agreat day for a ride and enjoyed the new gear for summer riding.
