Hi,
I'll skip the debate over upstate versus downstate New York. I live in the Hudson Valley region of New York and enjoy three-season riding in the area. I've been riding since 1979, but I've only had my Triumph for the last three years. I picked up my '79 adventurer so that I would have a ride ( that worked ) to teach my 25-year-old daughter how to ride safely. We spent several weekends practicing in a school parking lot, and then she took the Motorcycle Safety (MHS) course. She did so well that they asked her to come back with some riding experience and teach— what a proud moment for a biker dad! The best ride for me is a slow cruise on back roads thru the woods... dirt roads even better all while chatting with my daughter over our Sena comms :)

I love to have fun and i'll fiddle with anything that runs on gas—boating, biking, jet skiing, and even some amateur sports car racing. But now, at 60-something, I'm slowing put a '73 R75 /5 BmW back together... and cruising while trying to not get in anyone's way. I've been lurking here for a while, but I decided to contribute something today. Thanks!

Scott from Yorktown Heights, NY

Welcome to TT from Eastern Canada.
Love those older Triumphs. I would love to get an older T'bird myself, one day.
Congrats to your daughter on her riding and new found joy. Looks like a TU 250 Suzuki in one of your pics. They're great bikes for back roads and simplicity.

The Tu 250x was my daughter's choice and It's a perfect first bike. They use them at the MHS school in Newburgh... And the newer model - hers is a 2018 - still looks like the original design.. but has a superb FI system. I love the looks - she gets more compliments when we stop than I do :) t... a whole day of back roads.. is less than gallons of gas :) !

duh,.. the type o's... my Triumph is a 1999 not a '79

Welcome to the forum Scott. I'm on the other side of the world (Sydney, Australia), but it's great to read about what's going on over there. Great bunch of guys on this forum with heaps of experience and skills. Safe riding and congratulations to your daughter. Both my son and daughter have motorbikes and it's a proud moment when they take their first ride.
I own a 1996 Thunderbird 900 (BRG & Cream) and she's my pride and joy. Safe riding to you both.
