Nothing much to report about the new tires - other than it's nice to have tires with lots of fresh meat on them under you.
Today was the first time the bike was on the road with the new tires so I took it easy since they weren't scuffed in. It was a cool day and the pavement wasn't warm so I didn't risk poor traction by leaning too hard or cracking the throttle.
By the time I got home I had ridden 149 km's (93 miles) so that should be enough scuffing in.

We had this same convo on the Bonneville Owners Group via the Yahoo! Group Listserv system and on the Facebook Group "Bikers United". Some run Avon's, some Shinko's, some Metzlers, some Dunlops. I have a brand new Pirelli( $130.00 and the new tube was $14.00 ) on the back of my Rigid I cannot wait to try out and will probably put another Pirelli on the front too. The price and quality of tires these days can be hit or miss in our economy and the fact a lot of work is now being done over seas and the quality is down. It is a research before you buy kind of world we must deal with now.

Glad you enjoyed your ride today. TUP

Glad you got a good ride in. That should be enough to scuff the the tires. You were wise to take it easy on new tires on a cool day.
Yes, fresh tires with release agent still on them and cold pavement aren't a good combination.
Thanks for all the comments on the other threads Carl. It seems like I have a new bike :y15:

Probably a bit late to contribute but here's a pic of the rear Michelin on my Bonneville cafe racer ....

Haven't yet ridden the bike so can't comment on how it will perform but it sure looks good!

There are HD riders at the Shop I frequent that say they go through 3 rear tires to one front. Glad they have the money to afford those tires that cost over $200.00 plus mounting.
