Obviously, mine is the Star Spangled Banner.

OK - if you had to exclude your home country's anthem, like I did SA, which would you deem as the most rousing, patriotic, melodic etc. For instance I love the words to Flower of Scotland because of the story it tells.

In alphabetical order:

Australia - Advance Australia Fair (I really think Waltzing Matilda should have been Austrailia's national anthem)
Canada - O Canada
Costa Rico - Himno Nacional de Costa Rica
Jamaica - Jamaica, Land We Love
Scotland - Flower of Scotland

Joao, a lot of us would prefer America the Beautiful be our national anthem. I am a long time Ray Charles fan and admirer. I was fortunate to get to see him in concert back in the 60's. He was extremely talented and could sing any genre of music. He did an album of Hank Williams' country music and it was outstanding.

And I am glad you did!!! :y115: Wow! That was load of talent on that stage at one time. I am also an avid Fats Domino fan. I like Jerry Lee's music and admire his talent; but I do not think much of him as a person. Great video!!!! Thanks, Joao.

Forgive us, Gromit. Now back to our regularly schedules national anthems.

Resurrecting this thread with this......

This woman is a fine example of "over-the-top" anthem singing. This was last weekend in Ottawa Canada before an Ottawa Senators / Pittsburgh Penguin game.

She sings the Star Spangled Banner and O Canada. Watch the players trying hard not to laugh while she sings!

Best I not say anything about that rendition! But here's the debacle made of our national anthem in France - and the singer is South African ROTFL

Ras Dumisane doing his thing mon!

Oh brother Seeker, that was really over the top :y13: I couldn't take it to the end.
A very talented lady for sure, but that was a bit agonizing to endure.
I wish anthem singers would just sing it, sing it straight as was intended, and leave it at that.
When they start putting their own spin on the song and drag it out, that really bugs me.
Maybe they think a talent scout from Hollywood is watching :y2:
