Dave, if I was wrong with the last answer, kill this off, otherwise the next one....

Sure it's a 60's Triumph but what year and what did they do only this year?

This is a Triumph forum and this entry has been up for 8 hours, come on team, time to knock it over.

Well, I'm still pretty new to Triumphs and still have a lot to learn so I'm looking for info on it? Just haven't located it yet.

As far as it was the only one to do something. . . It vibrated? LOL, sorry I couldn't resist that seeing as I've spend many miles on a Milwaukee Vibrator.

This bike isn't one on your list.

The question,
"It's a 60's Triumph but what year and what did they do only this year?"
will have to be changed to,
"It's a 60's Triumph but what year?"

I'm sorry but I asked the first question based on statements made by an owner of a bike the same as this, a bit of research on the model has shown that he was incorrect and the unusual thing about the bike was also done the two years before, all up for 3 years, this year was the last year before they went back to the older style. Then in 1971 as we know the bike got a complete makeover and this modification became normal. Sorry about that, but it's good that this thread is teaching some of us including myself to dig a bit and don't accept everything on face value.

So lets ID this bike?

OK we’ve had a 24 hour cycle to knock this one off and Dave is the only one having a go and he’s gone out for a long lunch. It’s getting close to bed for me so I’ll kill it off and ask anyone interested to post the next bike.

It’s a 1962 Triumph TR6.
Single carb but similar to the twin carb Bonneville.

From 1960 until 1962 Triumph used a duplex frame (two front down tubes) on the 650 cc range. In 1963 they reverted back to the larger diameter single front down tube similar to all Triumph twins from introduction and stayed with it until 1970. When the bike had a complete make over in 1971 the oil containing frame was introduced, this also incorporated duplex construction.
