Devils Claw is classified a 'foreign invader' plant here in SA and we're not allowed to plant it. If we do find it, we have to destroy it by burning it. We have another creeper here called Cats Claw that has yellow flowers and will go up a wall and onto your roof in a few months - very invasive and very 'banned' here and once it's in your garden, it's a real battle to get rid of it.
I like the Med type gardens - easy to maintain, water wise and no bother. I have a mix of indigenous aloes and grass & trees. I don't think I'd like a garden without any grass or shade trees. Your garden looks great - I like it a lot.
