My back garden

Just thought I'd post these few pictures here of our back garden, the flowers are called, "Devils Claw", and they require almost no water, and spread all over the place. It's a cheep way to make your garden look half decent for virtually no financial lay out at all, as these things are everywhere, and you just take a few cuttings, soak them in a tub of water for a few days, plant them and forget them, and let nature take over. That's about as much maintenance as you need to worry about

I don't know why but I thought you stayed beside the ocean. Just been doing a scoot around your city with street view and it's much bigger than what I thought as well. However I ended up going down a side street and getting lost and it looked a bit dodgy so I thought I better get out of there :y13:

Dave, we're about a 45 minute ride to the coastal resort of Mojacar. We get down there now and again, but prefer to be inland away from all the bars and clubs. I did find our house on Google maps one day, I'll see if I can find it again and send you a link so you can have a closer look. As far as I know it's the only house in the area called, " Casa Bonneville", I did think about, "Casa Thunderbird", but it didn't sound the same.
Seeker, your dead right about the trees and grass, or the lack of. There's not many of both around these parts, and when we go to France you certainly notice the difference. Northern Spain is a lot greener

Just showed the photos to my wife (Sharron), she asked do the flowers close at night and open in the day. She suspects they may be similar to some we have.
We sure get a lot more rain than you, just got 2" over night :y16:.

Yes, the flowers close up of a night, I've just been outside and there half way open. Lovely blue sky here today, looks like a nice day in prospect.
As to the mower repair business, the shops around here actually sell mowers, the ground here is predominantly very hard with rocks galore, so any mower would be destroyed within moments of being turned on, but a lot of Brits spend a lot of time making there garden green, even to the extent of laying lawn. Too much effort for us, we just plant Spanish plants and leave them to it.
Funny how the're called Pigface down under, yet Devils Claw up here

man that's nice my kids would have a bike track there in no time when can we come and stay for a bit

Beds made up Tinni's in the fridge, if you look at picture 3, in the background even though you can't see it, there is a Rambler, most weekends you can see and defiantly hear the off road bikes, going along the Rambler. It's no wonder that the Spanish are producing world champions in Moto GP and the Paris Dakar rally, they can play around a lot and no one seems to care that much. Try doing that in the UK and you'd have the Ramblers moaning ( Bloody winging Pom's :y2: ) away at you all the time

Your'e right about that Garry. I live in the Lake District in Cumbria and all except for 2 green lanes, all off roading on bikes or 4wd's is now illegal, unless you are a shepherd tending to sheep. I am a keen walker and biker and I think there is plenty of room for everyone.
What really annoys me is that the un-elected members of the LDNPA (Lake District National Park Authority) do not even live up here!
But they have even introduced a 10mph speed limit on Windermere to stop the 'noisy' jet skis and water skiers from disturbing the tranquility of the lake! WALOB!ANGER

I've always thought the ducks made more noise than the Jet Ski's, that's the trouble with people who don't understand, or don't wish to understand other peoples past times and concerns for the area that they live in. When I went off roading in England, I was always mindful of the area I were riding in, and if my mate and I came across a rider and horse we'd always turn the engine off and wait till the horse rider went by and gave us the nod so we could start up again. I had 1 or 2 moans, but just ignored it. Most off roaders will tell you it's the 4X4's that cause more problems than the off road rider. ( But typicaly were always the bad guys in this )
As you said there's plenty of room for everyone
I've been to Cumbria a few times, and you are certainly blessed to live in such a stunningly beautiful county. So your task this summer, should you wish to take it, is to fill up the Travel section of this forum with everything that beautiful Cumbria has to offer. Come on Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, ( The Antrim coastal route is drop dead gorgeous, it's also on the way to the Northwest 200 ) lets show them what the UK has to offer.
