I have removed a set of mufflers from the 1995 Triumph Thunderbird 900 project that I am working on. I have cleaned them up and after twenty five years they are in good condition with som scratches and one has on the under side some battery acid marks. Theses mufflers are perfectly useable and I would like to see them go to a good home.

I have listed them on Kijiji.ca 1995 Triumph Thunderbird/Adventurer Mufflers | Motorcycle Parts & Accessories | Calgary | Kijiji

Well, I'm a bit cash poor after my first at-fault accident in 47 years of riding, and having liability insurance only (broken leg when I clipped a lady's SUV).

Still, if you'll e-mail me at grandpaulz athot maildot com and drop me a reminder, I may be able to scrape some money together next year. I'd sure like a pair. Are they Standard (OEM) or "Off Road"?

OEM Stock! Came with the 1995 TBird 900 that I am restoring. I had another brand new set in the memobila room waiting for the right project. Will try and follow up with year next year which is about five (5) weeks away!

Those mufflers, (silencers) are super rare items. As easy as they are to bugger up, it would be wise to hang onto a spare set. I looked for years for a set of original TORs and in meantime found a few, (VERY FEW!!) original OEM items. If I found better than what I had, I sold the lesser ones. Currently, have 1 set OEMs a bit shabby, 1 set OEMs pristine and the TORs are on the bike. Looked at items from Hyde, Sprint, etc, but dimensionally, didn't think they looked "right". And, they ain't cheap!

Agree Mr. Dearborn. But I only need one set that is going the the 1995 TBird that is currently in the shop. The other set is brand new as well and came with the Triumph.

Often, the mounting inserts are what goes bad. The screws/bolts seize in them and when trying to remove them, there isn't enough "bite" on the insert and it either just spins, meaning the mounting bracket is forever loose, and the only way to get the bracket off is a cutting wheel, or worse, then what's left falls inside. Found a REALLY nice pair of TORs, but each had one of these mountings that had the remains of the bolt seized in them after PO used a cut-off wheel and they were spinning. Local fastener supply house had idea- pull them out of muffler body, leaving hole and replace with aluminum "crush" type insert. Used Dremel and small bit to enlarge hole JUST ENOUGH to fit insert, then with bolt and a couple of lock nuts to hold steady, tighten till insert "crushes" Ones he had were SAE size and button head allen bolt slightly smaller than OEM Triumph item, but not visible when installed. Worked GREAT! (just DON'T OVERTIGHTEN!!!!) Best thing-- bolt, 3 locknuts and 3 inserts-total 7 BUCKS!!! That's right SEVEN BUCKS!! Saved a pair of "unobtainium" mufflers for SEVEN BUCKS!!
