I went to see the movie, Midway, last night.
It's a good movie and historically very correct. As was expected, all of the flying and battle scenes were CGI and maybe a bit over done.
It starts before the war, covers the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Doolittle raid and then the planning and execution for the battle of Midway.
It's 95% about the war and the battles with only a small side story about a pilot and his family.
I would call it a guy movie.

I have seen it and I think it was very well done overall. The flying and battle scenes are a little bit Hollywoodized.
BGRIN that's what I meant by a bit over done. The planes were too fast and too maneuverable to be real.
The Japanese planes flying so low between the ships at Pearl wasn't realistic. I wasn't there, but I doubt they did that.
But, of course, I stand to be corrected.
Nonetheless, the battle scenes were very loud and spectacular.

You like my term "Hollywoodized"? :y23: Hollywood always thinks it can improve over the real thing. However, this time, they didn't do too badly. It is a well done and accurate movie.

Just seen the Movie Dunkirk the other night, , if Midway is half as good it will be a winner. I went and sore Saving private Ryan years ago and the first 20 minutes had me gob smacked, and the best thing of all was no LOVE INTEREST in the above two movies :giggle:

When Dunkirk came out last year, some of my buddies and I went out for supper and then to the early movie.
We did the same thing with Midway; the Tuskegee Airmen movie a couple of years ago and the Brad Pitt movie, Fury.
We don't go to many movies - just certain ones that interest us.
