Be careful on gravel/dirt if you are not used to it. And as Hemi said she will "nap" they just do....get ya some crash bars. Well worth the money. That is my next upgrade as G.G. has "napped" several times now and I am running out of places for the decals to hide the scratches. lol

Again congratulations the Triple engine is an addictive drug, as is exploring fire roads, Enjoy !

The Green Goddess enjoying some Alabama Snow. ;)

Sorry didn't mean to hijack your post RIDE ON ETC. RIDE ON!!!!!

To keep you from having to read that thread just to get info on the engine guards I decided to post the information here since I might not have the information in that one.

There has been several engine guards reported as causing damage when the bike was dropped. I have not read of the Triumph bars causing damage like some of the aftermarket brands. Givi was one of the brands reported as causing damage to the engine cases and heads. Most of the aftermarket brands are using the same lower mounting locations as Triumph. I have a theory as to why the Triumph guards don't cause damage but can't prove my theory, I feel they apply a force at angles different than Triumph Guards which is causing the damage.

I did purchase the improved Givi guards, part number TN6401A. The "A" designation is the improve guards which mount to the engine mount locations instead of to the engine cases. What ever brand or style you decide on, in my opinion, be sure they do not mount to the engine. YMMV but that was why I went with the TN6401A guards. Plus they will give me more mounting locations for new horns , crash bar bags and highway pegs.

A fine ride on a great bike. Thanks for the pics.

I opted for the Triumph guards on my 800XC because of the reported damage from other brand guards. I have tested mine three times and they worked well. :y2: As said above, be careful in loose gravel and loose, dry sand until you get used to the bike. This I know from experience.

I can honestly say I have owned my Tiger longer than I have EVER owned any other single bike. (and I have owned well over 20 bikes.....or is it 25 really I can't remember all of them) Most lasted a couple years....some a mere 4-6 months......the Green Goddess and I have been happily dodging cagers and slinging gravel for 7 years THIS month!! (Damn 7 years) and I look forward to the next 7 with great anticipation and a HUGE Cheshire Cat Grin under my helmet!
Welcome to Tiger ownership...it certainly doesn't suck :)
