Told them $14,750 out the door for the 2025 T120 black and $15,500 for my Rocket. They said ok on the T120 price but no on the R3 trade in. What the heck, they will ask $18,500 for it.
I told them when the T120 is still sitting there next month give me a call.

Are all dealers the same ?
When I tried to trade in the 2011 Tiger it was : send my a photo of the registration , the odometer reading , and on and on and on . Then they told me what a great bike it was and how easy it would be for me to sell , never any intention of taking it on trade . I put it on Kijiji and it was gone in a few days to a guy in my neighborhood that I didn’t know . He turned out to be a veteran biker who’d raced everything from boats to planes .

You are paying way too much for Triumph motorcycles..
Here goes …
If you check the price of the the new tiger 800 on the T US site you’ll find it’s 12495 $usd . On the Canadian T site the price on the same bike is 14495 $cdn , yes , 2 grand more in Canada . NO , it’s 2 grand cheaper in Canada , about 2300 $usd would be close .
DA .. how you say ? Figure in the value of the Canadian dollar at 70 cents and I pay just 10,146.50 $US . If I want to go stateside and buy the same 800 I must get about 17,869 $ CDN exchanged to get back 12,495 $US , current exchange rate is 1.43 .
Canada’s tariff duty on motorcycles from the UK is 13 % .
How much do you suppose the US duty on Triumph motorcycles is ?

It's not the import duty, it is the dealers slowly going out of business that try for a home run on every at bat.
I've worked at two dealers, in sales, and they all seem to act like used car dealers. Fully retired now, I can't stand going in to a dealership.

Agree completely and good to hear from you . But still would love to know why are Triumph USA suggested retail prices so high you Americans have to pay about 20% more than Canadians for Triumph motorcycles. I realize people all over the world just love and admire us but it’s hard to believe we get such a deal because of that .

So how much do you suppose the US duty on Triumph motorcycles is anyway ?
I was a U.S. Customs Broker for 30 years, but retired almost 20 yrs ago. I just looked at the current U.S. Harmonized Tariff Scheddules (HTS) and must admit, I couldn't for certain figure out the current tariff rate. Seems for British M/C's it's either 0%, 2.4% 12.4%, 25%, or 27.4%!!! Whether you're in Canada or the U.S., if you intend to import a motorcycle from Britain (or, for that matter a British-made M/C from Canada to the U.S.) --- Contact a Licensed Customs Broker. My old employer, John A. Steer Company is still in business; Hint, Hint!!!!

Thanks, seriously looking at a new Tiger Sport so I'm lurking on here again.
A lot of places think us Yanks are still willing to be a cash cow but those days have passed. US Moto dealers are seriously hurting....and not completely their fault. I am seeing a bunch more Chinese brand m/c's out and about now than ever before.

Thanks , nice to get some info that’s comes with some knowledge to back it up . I checked the HTS site as well and left non the wiser . Seems to be common knowledge that President Reagan put 45% tariff on any thing over 700 cc to save HD and it worked . Apparently India is currently reducing its 100% duty down to 50 to give Harley a chance . Can’t imagine 100% on a Harley , that’s a mean one . The cost of my Tiger and Thruxton combined wouldn’t get me a bare bones Streetglide .

Will have to get a look at that one
It’s looks what my idea of a Harley is . The side view is similar to old school buddies Fat Bob 100th anniversary, which he never rides . In Canada the base price is 28,199 $cdn (19,740 $usd ) very reasonable if you ask me . You got me thinking for a minute but at my age I need something smaller .

I agree with your assessment.

I too was thinking smaller (T120) but with the low seat height and low center of gravity the HD feels lighter than my Rocket but it's actually heavier. The HD is more comfortable.

Here’s what a Harley looks like… my ’51 FL without the ‘pogo stick’ OEM seat that puts you way up in the air… I think it’s a tie with my ’84 BMW R100RS as for weight, but both have a low center of gravity so feel surprisingly nimble the moment you start rolling.

The ’71 Bonny feels like a bicycle after riding either of them—neither of which I can push up the apron into the garage. The Bonny? No problem...
