Giving into to the cajoling of my kids and my neighbor, I have bought a smart phone, an HTC HD7S. I don't how to use it; but I have one. It even makes phone calls!! :y2: It is a Windows phone.

I still have texting turned off. I don't want to pay for it. However, I am using a free texting app, WhatsApp that allows me to text via the net with no charges. If you install that app, we can text. I refuse to pay a monthly fee to AT&T for texting.

Some AT&T smart phone plans include unlimited texting as part of the data package. Where did you get the phone? They should have explained this.

Carl, I'm with you. I have no idea what to do with 90% of the apps on my phone. I make & receive calls, I send & receive texts, I can take photos and I've now stupidly learnt how to access e-mails on my phone. Really dumb move. Everything else?? I haven't got a cooking clue!

99 cents for that app, too much...LOL

I got it free for the first year! BGRIN

Oh now I will pass on that one then but Google Talk is free but Carl does not do Google BGRIN

No, Sir; I do not. :y2:

Give up now. I have one and it's waaaaaaaay smarter than I am!:y21:

I completely understand.

Nice Carl :)

Still too bad I cannot text you though, I do 98% of my communication via text.
Its just there waiting for me to have time to read it, same for those I send. Business or personal, the recipient can just get to it when they have time and reply.
I barely use anything else anymore.
Its not uncommon for me to text with people in 8 or more countries a day.
And a few friends only use text, nothing else.

As for figure out the phone, just keep playing with it, that's what I did when I got mine.
Its not like you can really wreck it, so just keep using it, until you get it figured out.

Texting on a phone is way too time consuming and difficult for me; it is much easier and faster for me to type an email.

I am definitely practicing with this phone. And I see I need a LOT of practice. :y2: :y2:

What kills me is that these "smart" phones and tablet have 6,000,000 functions and the manufacturers don't even bother to install a user's manual on the device (let alone a paper manual in the box). I just got a new tablet, and I had to download the manual from the Mfr's web site. And the manual BLOWS - doesn't cover NEARLY all of the functions of the device and those functions it does cover are discussed in a most elementary fashion!

My iPhone 4S lasts more than a full day with wifi on, web surfing, doing email and texting, great phone. The best new feature is voice texting.
