Looks like Hurricane Fiona is going to be hitting Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island pretty good, so hope a couple of members on here weather it out okay.
High winds, lots of rain and storm suges along the coast could cause some serious problems. Cape Breton Island will get the brunt of it, but it ain't over, 'til it's over. Good luck to @Rocky and @brooke during this. We're only supposed to get some rain and wind right now but if the track changes, well who knows.

Monday morning around 9:00 am, 26 Sept., and I'm glad to be back with you. I have internet, but no TV yet.
I sustained no property damage, but the city has been trashed with downed trees and limbs. It was mostly a wind event and not the heavy rains in this area as expected. I lost power late Friday night, but it came back on late Sunday night. The storm was slow moving and it took over 12 hours to pass.
Those areas and provinces just to the east of me really got severely hammered and it will be a long time before services are restored.
Power company crews are coming in from Quebec and US crews from Maine to help as we do when they have such an event.
This was the biggest storm to ever hit Canada. My concern now is hurricane Ian who is poised to trash Florida and where it may go after that.

Glad you’re fine @Rocky ! I know firsthand being without power after a hurricane is no fun. It takes weeks to months sometimes to get areas even cleaned up after a major storm. Y’all may start to see more of these big storms come your way. We’ve been lucky so far in Texas this season. I don’t wish these storms on anyone, but happy not to receive one. Hope everything gets back relatively normal soon. Are the roads clear enough to ride?

There are so many streets that are impassable or blocked by crews that it's almost impossible to get around the city and out on the roads. The traffic lights are working but traffic is being funneled into only a few streets and the delay is terrible. It's pouring rain today and into tomorrow so no riding anyway.
All non-essential services and institutions are closed so that should help with traffic. As bad as it may be, we got off pretty lucky compared to the eastern provinces.

@Rocky Well we sure glad that you mostly back up and running and I cannot imagine how it must be to go through storms like these. I hope the next one misses you.
I had no damage at all nor did anyone on both sides of this block. Sunday was a beautiful sunny day so I took a walk for a few blocks around the area and quickly saw how lucky we are. After hurricane Juan trashed us 20 years ago, I had my remaining trees removed because I know they probably would have come down on me and my neighbour. The only threat now is city trees, so fingers are crossed.
Everyone is keeping an eye on hurricane Ian and where it might go.
Everyone in Florida be safe.
