As stated in my introduction, I'm planning on purchasing a new T-100 (or a Scrambler) in the future. How do these bikes perform and sound right off the dealership floor without any modifications? I currently ride a 2006 Sportster 1200 and it's not that comfortable of a ride for me (I'm 6'2", 220 lbs.) I did the stage one, better suspension and seat. I guess when you start doing the mods, you always want to do more. I'm looking for a bike I can just ride. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, strummer

You can just ride the T100. It is a fun bike and handles well.

The stock suspension is adequate, nothing spectacular. An upgrade of suspension makes a new bike out of it. I have upgraded the suspension on both 03 T100's I have (had). I rode them a while first, about a year, before I did the upgrade. I would say most serious riders eventually upgrade.

The sound is like a sewing machine with stock pipes (thanks EPA). I have TORS (Triumph Off Road) pipes on the T100 I still have. On my other T100 I installed 60's era Bonneville pipes. It required an adapter. The bike sounds great and is not obnoxiously loud. I passed this bike onto my oldest grandson.

More free flowing pipes will give you a little increase in power and modifying the air intake system will increase it a little more.

There is one mod I would suggest before you even ride it - remove the Air Induction (AI). There kits available for doing it; but you don't really need a kit. All you need are a couple of the right size and thread bolts and vacuum caps. The AI pumps air into the exhaust manifold to burn any unburned fuel. This causes the header pipes to blue almost to the silencers. I removed my AI in parking lot at the dealership.

Out of the box the T100 is a fine handling and riding bike. But like most bikes, it can be improved. Hope this helps. I love my T100.

I recently rode my brother-in-law's Sportster 1200. While the Sportster is a fun ride, the T100 will be a revelation. The Sporster is crude while the Bonneville is refined. I have switched to TORS for a little more sound.

I traded in a 48 for the T100. I'm slightly larger than you. Off the floor bike was good. But I wanted to hear it a little more. Ordered emgo from bellacorse and I flashed ecu with arrow 2-2 it like a different bike. Has bark when you roll it and it also runs cooler. Overall I love it don't miss the 48 as I used to call it the spine crusher. Even with progressives it was harsh.

Hi there, I've had mine from new I guess about a month now, first impression is the smoothness of the ride, I agree with others regarding the exhaust note, It sound's like a Honda super dream! but I don't care,
I'll modify things later when I'm past the manufacturers warranty... Now it's nearly 'run in' I take it to 80 mph or so, and it feels strong and still smooth. I had a centre stand fitted (how do people manage without one of these?)
it has compromised ground clearance a bit on the left, so might see if I can get it to go further up, maybe halving the bump rubber? I got 58 miles per gallon on my first long run, that's UK gallon not US gallon, what the difference is I forget, but that's still quite impressive, I can't remember my old 1970 Bonnie returning those figures...

stock tyres are terrible, with 'white lining' and any change in road surface make handling odd, not unsafe just not perfect ..for me anyway.. will change the Metzlers for Bridgestone BT45's as soon as they wear..

but that's small beer, so in conclusion....I love this bike!
