Chris : Enjoyed your bit on the H 2 as I had a couple of them and always enjoyed the ride . In the early seventies my first job wrenching was at a Kawasaki Dealership , Norwood Motorsport . I was actually hired to wrench the Triumphs which were sold for just one year . First day on the job they rolled a new Bonneville on my stand that had split it’s cases . Not a good introduction to the brand for me . Norwood was a very successful shop and Prince Edward Island was supposedly the only province in Canada or state in the union where Honda was not the # 1 seller. Kawasaki was. Always wondered where the triples reputation for poor handling came from . Z1’s were known to be good handlers but I found they wobbled like a hinge compared to the 750 ‘s . H 2 pilots of the day would of course include Yvon du Hamel , the fiery French Canadian snowmobile racer . He and I believe Gary Nixon were reportedly paid really big dollars to get the green machines close to top , perhaps it was way cheaper than developing a real racer. I met Yvon and he was a true gentleman.
Also got to meet his snowmobile mechanic ,Yvon De Rossier who invited me to join him for dinner with the Gilles Villeneuve family including a six year old Jacque.
