Hi
The bike was dropped and smashed the headlight and Hadlamp Shell lost gauges destroyed or lost at accident or transporting,
IMG20230501122124.jpg
LH clip on support bent, LH Switch ass scraped badly, Tank dented, gear Lever broken, scraped LH Exhaust, I was looking to see if I can find either a wrecker who can supply replacement parts as I am in NZ and the only option locally is all new parts.
I wanted to ask if a used Gauge cluster fro 2016 or earlier model would fit without ECU issues as my local Triumph agent can't answer that question as they have not had that issue ie damaged replacement fitted to 2016 bike. Any advice would be appreciated as I am Old School mechanical and not familiar with ECU issues.

Hello and welcome to the forum BBEER
Hi Dave
Thanks for the welcome I hope someone in the group can assist with tech information regarding the accident damaged 2016 Thruxton 1200 which I just bought at Auction. My question is can a used Gauge cluster be retrofitted to another bike with no ECU comparability issues or updates required.
I am am Old School mechanical!
Not hi tech whizz bang ECU detective
Also anyone who can give me a lead on replacement S/hand parts from a wrecked bike if available.

That's only a week's work if you can source the parts. Check on your local swap meets or the local mechanic shops mostly they have some used parts. Firstly, go with the mechanical issues and then the bodywork. the Bent on the LH handle mount is repairable and so is the switch assembly and the fuel tank. the exhaust can be buffed and polished as new. You can check if you can import something from the US. eBay Motorcycle Instruments and Gauges for Triumph Thruxton for sale | eBay has a lot of the aftermarket of used parts for the 2016 1200cc Thruxton. I would suggest going for an aftermarket gauge cluster, indicators, and headlamps if you can not find anything in the used market. and do install the crash bars. all of this can be avoided if the crash bars were there.

First, welcome to our community.

I live the US, so I have zero knowledge of the NZ market. I don't know about others but I'm trying to keep my Bonnie as OEM as possible. Triumphs are rare enough in this country. The SE model was only imported for 2010, '11 and 12'. I would imagine this would make the SE even rarer in the US. That's why I'm trying to keep the bike stock.

So, I order my parts either through my local dealer - local dealer as in one hour travel time, one way - or through a OEM parts warehouse.

I do hope you get the bike up and running soon.

Hi The bike was dropped on gravel bend by the previous owner.
The Headlight. Gauges, Headstock 1deg out of alignment, Lower Fork Yoke twisted, L/H Clipon Riser Bent. Clutch lever Switch module damaged, Ignition Switch broken, L/H Footrest Mount Bent and the gear lever broken, Petrol Tank multiple dings but I have pulled them out pretty good for a non panel beater.
Front guard and indicators broken, rear indicators and tail light Damaged L/H Silencer damaged.
Putting all the damaged parts down on paper makes it sound far worse.
I'm confident that the repairs will be straight forwards.
If I can get the headlight and instruments and tail lights and indicators off a crashed vehicle that is being stripped for parts along with a gear lever that would reduce the cost to rebuild.

Hi Red Dog.
Getting any parts to New Zealand increases the restoration cost on any vehicle by 30% to 50% since Covid air freight has been quadrupled.
So I was just trying to source some of the parts which are non structural from a damaged bike if possible, but will but new from Triumph if I can't source them from breakers yard.

One question I have regarding the rebuild is about the replacement of the gauges from second hand source will they interface with my ECU?

Thanks, I am sure it will take longer than I want it to take, as sourcing parts direct in NZ is not possible as none of the replacement parts are held here for this model as the 2016 1200cc Thruxton are a low volume bike in NZ
