Staying here in California. I watch crazy people who cannot cope, or cannot make a living "get on the Greyhound" to California. Then, in a few years they are back on the bus. Back to where they came from or some other "promise land". They need to stay home and address what thier problem is. Money, personal relationships, whatever. You usually take your problems you have with you. I stay here. The world is a mess. Moving around does not fix it. Just my view of life, I know. But at 75 that is the conclusion I have come to. ...J.D.
Your choice is valid and I respect it. There are many things I miss about Chico, especially the great roads in that area, it's some of the best riding I've ever done.

The wife found a way to get our first vaccine. Was quick and simple. Felt a bit poorly after. Tired, aches, and for some reason my pulse rate went sky high. Next morning and it is calming down. Wife was just tired after she took it. Beats the alternative. ...J.D.
The Wife & I got the first vaccine 3 days ago and thankfully we had no ill effects. We get the 2nd one the 24th. We are both in our late 70,s and have a few medical issues, catching the virus could have been fatel for us. It is a comfort now, getting the vaccine. Not 100 % but increasing the odds Gene in Mn

Glad you got the first dose with no side effects. TUP

One really does not know what to think about the vaccine but so far it does not seem to be harming those that have already had it. The one thing I am not sure about will this be like the flu shot that you need to have each year.

I've never had a flu shot. I get the flu at most every 10 years, a cold every few years. I was a bit surprised when I contracted COVID but hey, it did not kill me.

I never had a flu shot until 2019. The last couple of years I realize I am not as tough as I once was. I also started taking blood pressure meds, thyroid meds, vitimins, and a couple of herbs. Sometimes you have to take off your blinders and see yourself as you really are. Worked like a rented mule most of my life and never took care of myself. Had a wife and four kids to feed. At 75 it is past time for ME to take care of ME. I get my second Covid vaccine March 1st.

Getting old/getting the vaccine

A sad thing to mention. My Wife & I are both 77 yrs old .We too are feeling the effects of old age. What we have been confronted with, since Family & Friends are about our same age, is how many have passed away recently. Two were close friends and both died from the virus in the past 3 Months. The old expression We take our health for granite !! is true

I'm reluctant to admit this, but I can't do many of the things I use to. I too have too been very physically active all my life. We went to Menards today & I couldn't pick up the bags of water softener pellets and put them in the trunk, 50 lb bags.. Working out in the shop on the Triumph & other projects when it's this cold I don't do anymore. I seem now to have all kinds of aches & pains and am more content to just sit in the house. All of which is not good. The doctors say staying physically active is very important for a long life... Gene in Mn

In the last month my Mother turned 92 , got her 2 COVID shots and had a cornea transplant . I had to fill out the eye procedure questionnaire for her , when I got to the question , when were you last hospitalized ? , she said 1955 . Reason ? Your sister was born . Previous to that ? 1950 you were born . That’s right , only twice in her entire life she was in hospital. She’s never had a head ache .
I must be doing something wrong ...

I had a grandmother like that. She. was born in 1899. She passed away when she was 99 yrs. old. She worked and raised 6 kids, outlived 2 husbands. At 93 she gave up driving. She did not want to endanger others. At 99 she had 2 strokes in 2 weeks. When in hospice, I called her on the phone. She said "Jim. I don't think I'll going to get out of this one".
Still mentally sharp. Still down to earth to the very end. Great old gal. Sweet, but tough as nails. ...J.D.

I am knocking on the door of 77 and I know exactly what you are saying. I had to struggle to load two 60 pounds bags of concrete mix the other day. 60 pounds is a whole lot heavier than it used to be!

I take vitamins and herbal supplements, but no prescription medications. Sinc0 200o I have taken a tetanus shot, the shingles vaccine and now both doses of the covid vaccine. I still don't tske plu shots.
