The wife found a way to get our first vaccine. Was quick and simple. Felt a bit poorly after. Tired, aches, and for some reason my pulse rate went sky high. Next morning and it is calming down. Wife was just tired after she took it. Beats the alternative. ...J.D.

Vaccine manufacturer Merck has abandoned development of two coronavirus vaccines, saying that after extensive research it was concluded that the shots offered less protection than just contracting the virus itself and developing antibodies. Good news for me since I had COVID, recovered and tested antibody positive.

In my condition Covid would probably kill me off. This is one of those "risk assessment" situations. What is the least risk. I went with the vaccine. At 75 yrs. old, I am not in very good shape anymore. ...J.D.

I got Mederna. A few days have gone by. Seems like I tired out easily the first couple of days. My arm ached were I got the shot. The second night I had to take a nap after dinner. It has been four days since I got the first dose. I am pretty much back to normal. I go in for the second dose March 1st. ...J.D.

JD, That is good news. I am 76 and received my second dose on Jan 28th through the VA. I had no reaction to either dose aside from a sore arm. I got the Pfizer vaccine.

Actually, I have been doing pretty good. Being isolated for almost a year now is hard on you psychology. Not good to be alone that much. Physically though, I have thrived. My blood pressure is lower. I have lost weight. My chronic lung (40yrs) problems are easier to control, with less medication. Someday though, when this virus is under control, I will have to return to main stream society. ;) ...JD.

Isolation is hard on most people. I did curtail some activities; but I still got, rode, met with friends, kayaked, went to the coast for launches and traveled.

I have regular video conference meetings on Zoom with my contemporaries. We are part of a religious group. The local congregation numbers about 150-155..A large percentage of us are older. We keep each other upbuilt. The virus in Southern California has been really rampant, but it is starting to slow down in the last couple of weeks. I am beginning to maybe see the light at the end of this thing. ...J.D.

I hope you can get out soon. TUP

I got out of CA 23 months ago...LOL
BGRIN I hear you!

If things go as planned, my age group will be getting vaccinated by the end of the month/early April.
For once in my life I'm glad that I'm old - by the calendar - but not in my mind ROTFL

I can definitely relate! BGRIN In addition, I'm glad I'm a military vet. It paid off with the vaccinations

Here we are at 65 + years and folks with high risk factors.

Staying here in California. I watch crazy people who cannot cope, or cannot make a living "get on the Greyhound" to California. Then, in a few years they are back on the bus. Back to where they came from or some other "promise land". They need to stay home and address what thier problem is. Money, personal relationships, whatever. You usually take your problems you have with you. I stay here. The world is a mess. Moving around does not fix it. Just my view of life, I know. But at 75 that is the conclusion I have come to. ...J.D.
