In just over a week,me and Lake are going on a 4 day trip around Scotland!
This is the route we intend to take, staying overnight in Fort William, Tongue, and Kirkmichael.
I have spent the weekend sorting out my luggage set up on the bonnie.
I have never had anything other than a rucksack, so I bought a pair of saddlebags and a quick release top box on ebay for the princely sum of £45! Plus some new rubber, fuel bottles, map holder and clock.
First problem, the saddlebags do not clear the exhaust, bugga!
The support for the bags is supposed to go under the seat and the bags then clip on and off. The only way I was going to get these to work was to put them over the top of the seat, That is where the next problem arose, I have the single seat and rack.
So after much deliberation and head scratching, I decided that the bags needed to go up and outwards to clear the shocks and exhaust. So I set about bashing metal with a big hammer and came up with this.
I know it is very Agricultural!
The seat fits over my contraption, and I bolted the top box quick release plate and saddlebag hanger to the single seat rack.
Well it has worked, the bags clear the exhaust and shocks.
Here's a couple of pics with them all fitted.
The brackets have now been painted black, and are drying nicely.
I am quite pleased how it turned out, and all for less than £50!
The new tyres are fitted and I can't wait for next wednesday!
My darling wife says my bike looks like a Postman's bike!
