Good for you Kevin on the weight loss and lifestyle changes!
I have changed my diet recently. I am due for knee surgery on the 18th August and my surgeon said the more weight I could lose the better for my joints.
So since the 1st February I have been on a low carb diet and have gone from 15st 2lbs to 12st 7lbs and the knee pain has probably halved!
I hope to be running again by the end of the year if the cartilage is not to badly torn up.

How long have you been on lutein?
My mum is starting to have vision problems and I'll search the net and tell her about your success.

I started taking lutein about six years a go when the Veteran Affairs ophthalmologist found the beginnings of macular degeneration during a routine eye exam. The doc gave me a list of over the counter lutein compounds. She also gave me a grid of little squares with which I check my vision for blind spots. I have a dear friend in the St Augustine area whop is legally blind from macular degeneration. She has been taking lutein for about 12 years and she still sees well enough to paint (artist) and make jewelry, cook, clean and watch TV.

This is what I take twice a day:

That's good going, almost 17 kg. TUP
Even before I started my new diet etc I was always amazed when watching those who are seriously overweight limping around with bad knees, hips and backs. You don't have to be super smart to figure out that the problems can be lessened if the joints carry less weight.

Thanks Carl, I spoke with Mum yesterday about this but will give her the additional detail.

Glad I could help. Please tell her that my macular degeneration has not progressed one iota since I began faithfully taking the lutein compound. And my friend's condition has only slightly worsened in 12 yearns. I attribute that to her smoking; she is a heavy smoker.

Today I went for my 4 mth blood test results.

Was Now
Cholesterol 6.03H 4.96
Triglyceride 3.13H 0.99
HDL 0.96L 1.15
Chol / HDL Ratio 6.3H 4.3

I haven't had time to properly figure this out but my Dr said it was a good step considering no drugs were involved.
Haaaa, no drugs involved, that's a downer :(.

Oh, I set that up in columns of "was and now".
Looked easy to understand but all lost and too late to correct.
Bottom line as explained to me ...
Eat less, concentrate on good food, do a bit of exercise 6 days a week and become more healthy.

I highly recommend those who want to get cholesterol and B/P down to have a crack at life style changes before the soft approach of medication.
Sh*t who wants to start taking pills for the rest of your life and not be sure of the end result.
On the negative side, I've had to spend a bit of money on new clothes from the children's section that fit me ;).

Good numbers, Kevin. You are spot on; I have been able to keep my numbers in the good range through a proper diet and exercise. My numbers went up a little during the months I could not exercise.

Haaa, I don't think I can better or equal that.
You lost 3 stone or 19 kg, I only had 10 kg to shed.
My wife just checked the two photos and said you must buy a few pairs of those modern skinny legged pants. They're ticketed this side as "skinny chinos", I now have 4 pairs getting a bit of a workout.

Well done Steve that's awesome ! I'm going to start doing something about my own weight as I'm 14.9 stone and I used to be 10 stone, but I don't want to be that slim again I will be happy to be 12 stone .
My feet are starting to disappear ! BLUSH

All these "stones" if you lot would stop carrying them around you would weigh less ;)
LEts see google conversion thingy------I am at 13.4 stone.....sad I used to be just over 15 stone....but was WORKING hard on building mass and muscle back in those days....at a hair over 6' the over 15 stone was just too much to carry about........happily I have found a stone I like and hope to stay here a bit. :)

Well done to all of you dropping weight and eating/living healthier. I read an article last week that stated in the U.S. 23% of teens smoked in the 70's in 2014 they claim 9% smoke.........either we are all getting smarter/healthier or the kids now are better liars LOL! Cheers!

Well in Scotland smoking and drinking is a big part of life ! And the Scottish government is tying its hardest to to turn this around and get Scotland a healthier place to live .
