Gas tank for Street Twin 2016 & 2018 Interchangeable?

Hi Everyone,
New to forums and my first post. I have a 2018 Street Twin.
I want to change the tank color but I'm hesitant to permanently lose the OEM paint job.
I want to swap out tanks instead. Looking at buying a used 2016 tank and putting it on my 2018.
Some places have said it's no problem it's the same. Others have said they are different.
So, does anyone know if the 2016 tank will fit my 2018?

PS Just in case you're curious. I have a white tank and I want to swap to a black.

Im by no means a 100% but im pretty sure the tanks are the same ! ..... on the other hand you could just wrap your current tank which can be removed at any time and protect the existing paint work .

Yeah. I've thought about doing a plasti-dip kind of thing. I've used that stuff in the past on other projects with varying degrees of success. I think in terms of cost and actual need I would rather keep the OEM tank in tact and do a swap out. Cost ends up being around the same when you compare a paint job to buying a used tank and having the defects/dents worked out. If the tank was a gaudy color I hated I would have no problem painting over it but the white is really nice..just wanted something different.
