So on the few new bikes I've bought...the first items to come off are reflectors and warning decals.....Especially if they are on the tank...
I'm expecting delivery soon of my 2016 Thruxton R....and so I'm wondering who of you have removed your fuel tank warning stickers and by what method....
My previous method has been a hair dryer and patience...

Thanks for your input...

Eric

I always remove the stickers from the gas tank by either letting the sun warm them up or using a hair dryer - as you have done in the past.
As long as they haven't been clear coated over, they should come right off with a little heat and patience.

I leave everything else in place, but that's up to the individual.

One thing I've heard of to remove the side reflectors is dental floss, I kid you not. I've read it somewhere, and it does work by all accounts. Then if you get some WD40 and spray it on a rag, then that gets rid of the glue without damaging anything.

Ok, so you're saying that the reflectors are stuck on with a foam tape....and to use the dental floss as a cutter....Makes sense to me..

Thanks, Eric

Mine came off with no mess, no drama. Just a fingernail to lift the corner, and slowly peeled back. Mine also had small stickers on the right-side engine case. Those also came right off, rubbing a little Goo Gone with my finger (on a cold motor) to pick up the glue remnants.

Correct, the fork reflectors are mounted w/ double-sided foam tape. I pried mine off by hand, then cleaned up the stuck-on glue and foam with Goo Gone and a rag. 5-minute job.

That's how I removed my tank sticker, finger nail on corner and it can right off.

My tank stickers came off really easy. Hairdryer and they just peeled off. The reflectors on the forks were easy too. I used the plastic strap used on parcels. Literally just put it behind the reflector and pulled it down the back. It left the foam on the fork leg but just rub it with your thumb and it will come off. I then wiped it with WD40 and no marks left at all.

Looks good, I don't know why they're putting them on UK bikes. To the best of my knowledge, it's not a legal requirement to fit them, other bikes don't have them. I bought a new Suzuki last year and it doesn't have them on it.

Although I rarely ride at night I never remove any factory reflectors.
I don't find them ugly and I figure they can't hurt on that rare occasion I'm out after dark.
That's also the reason I add reflective tape to my helmet and only wear a jacket with a reflective strip.
But everyone sees things differently and I have no problem with anyone who removes them.
It's all about personal choice.
