I was just wondering how many of you actually turn off the fuel petcock when the bike is not being used. To date I can only remember turning off my one on my 650 Bonnie as the carbs would leak otherwise. I never noticed any ill effects for not turning it off so far :silent:

Of course they could....... :)
If things go as they seem they might, I may need a commuter......... so is it a T100...... or St 3..... or what???

Or a Dihatsu Charade............ :y114:

Or a Honda Speedmaster........ can you believe how long they have been making those!!!!!

From years of long habit riding Meridan Triumphs - and I still ride one - I shut my fuel off every time I shut the bike off. I have forgotten to do so a time or two with the T100's with no ill effects.

As I said I have never notice any ill effects of not turning it off. I have also never had any build up of dirt in my line either so I wonder if keeping it on has kept the line clean

Turn it of Dave
The smallest bit of crap in your float valve in one of the carbs and you'll end up with your fuel either in your cylinders and possibly your sump, or in your filter box.
I forgot once a million years ago with my norton and I ended up hydraulicking the old girl.
:y18:

Turn it off, especially if you leave the bike on its sidestand.
Remember how the early Honda Goldwings and CBX models used to hydraulic and twist cranks?

I always used to turn the tap off.
If the bike was gonna stand for a while, I turn it off and let the bike run untill the carb was empty. We were using pre mix (two stroke), and the oil would gunk up the carbs. Anyone remember Castrol R? Like bluddy super glue that stuff.

My Yamaha also had the oil tank and I remember the oil was a green colour (color)

Dave you were correct the first time "colour". Me thinks the spell check was made in a foreign country :ya2:.

Huh?

How do you pronounce "hOUR" ?

How do you pronounce "colOR" ?

Now you see why the spellcheck is correct. ;-)

Don't try to confuse me with logic or common sense, TRADITION is what the empire was built on. If my grandfather spelt it "colour" then that's good enough for me .
