That is the first time I have seen a bike dealer do this. I see it with auto and truck dealers frequently. At least you got in a good ride.

Nothing lost as you got a ride on a nice day under your belt.

Years back when I worked in the bike industry we had a friend who would look at our s/h stock and pick one of the bikes that wasn't selling. He'd take it home and give it a top notch detail and sell it privately. He'd come back with the money, the boss and him would work out what the split would be between them.
