I think I was still in my early 20's when one day I found myself working at an old age home. I was sitting on a bench outside just taking a rest.
The next thing this old guy comes up and sits down next to me. So we start chatting and he tells me a story how he was a POW in the war. We chat for some time just about life.
He then said this to me and over all the years I have remembered his words.
"Son over the years I have done many things, some good some bad. I have had the good times and bad, fought in the war and here I am. Son you know what the hardest thing I have had to do in my lifetime has been, GETTING OLD."
It was only as I got older that I really understood what he meant. I do count myself lucky that overall I don't feel old and my health is still good.
