In England and on TV Comedy , In the 70's a Pakistani was called a Paki or Paky for short , pronounced the same way.
This was in no way a put down as every nationality had a shortened name. Though I did come across a Italian who was for some reason quite offended, because he thought the English were having a personal go at him.
I attempted to assure him it wasn't personal. But said it could have been , if it was a "slang" name made up by the Troupes in World War Two. Because that's what happens , when your the enemy. But not to take it personally , as the Wars been over Quite a while.
Whether that got through I have not idea.
There are always alternative names , in any language for groups , that are made up to cause offensive. But they are generally used when its fighting talk. Is name calling.
The General Point is , it wasn't me who made the shorten words up.
I Guess I'm just the nearest. Ha...ha. !
PS: I guess the "I" in Pakistan , came from "I" in Islam.?
Something else I could add.
I have a Wealthy Businessman friend who is puzzled , so asked me , " why is there so much hate towards migrants ( not refugees ), it seems to be everywhere ".
My only answer I can give only from experience , is its a In built fear of a Takeover by certain Groups or Religions , or that they will take there Jobs , or or or. List goes on.
Certainly it all unlikely or possible .
