The Classic Motorcycle Club is holding the annual 1,000 Bike Show this coming weekend at the regular venue, the Germiston High School (opposite the entrance to Rand Airport). http://www.classicmotorcycleclub.co.za/1000bike.htm

OK, it's the same thing every year and it's always cold but there are interesting bikes on display, a large variety of trade stalls, manufacturers' displays, food stalls and the obligatory beer tent, a dodgy rock band and you always see plenty of familiar faces for a good old chin wag. Also, I believe it's important to support our local events. I scheme I'll go through to TT on Saturday morning and then pull through to Germies to visit the show. Pics from last year:

I have a new bike on order :y2: & if all goes according to plan I should pick it up on Friday & ride thru’ to the show on Saturday.

See you there.

This particular event has become a bit of yawn for me - it's the same year in and year out. We always go to the Classic Bike Race finish - the Durban to Joburg one. Fantastic to see these very old bikes in great nick, finishing up after doing the Durban - Joburg race. Brilliant day indeed!

I got there at 9h30 on Saturday morning.

Triumph takes this show seriously by presenting a big display.

They are one of only a few manufacturers who put new models on display at this event.

A very rare Arter Matchless G50 500cc (the same type of bike as ridden by Peter Williams who was later to become the development engineer and works rider for John Player Norton). This was one of the very first racing machines to use cast wheels.
