Anybody see the last of Long Way Round tonight? I`m saving the pennies as from now, for my round the world trip. By the way, anyone read that book by the guy that DID go all the way around on his Triumph. I read it, must be 30 years ago now and can`t remember his name, but I know they hooked up with him along the way. Inspiring!

The guys name is Ted Simon he did the trip in forties and then again in his seventies.

Long way down is boring I agree, they were in too much of a rush to get places so that there was no adventure they were on a schedule. Besides after my nephew completed a trip from the tip of south america to freezing end of north america on his own without a crew of ten and a head office staff to iron out glitches, I kind of lost interest in the commercial trip.

I'm watching it and I love it. I don't think it is as "real" as the first one though. I have noticed that Ewan shaves every day and he doesn't have helmet hair, but I still love it. I think when I do my "Cape to Cairo" bit I will skip Kenya though - the roads are really crappy. Farside - yep it is more commercial this time but the proceeds are going to excellent causes and the trip does highlight the plight of kids in distress.
