OK, here`s one for all you guys . . . I have some slight damage to my left hand silencer, have been quoted £200 plus for a new `pair`. Do I have to but the two? Surely you can buy them singly? Or is that `singaly`. Or individually even?

That`s exactly why one of mine is `done in` almost. Am I allowed to use `deleted expletives` on here? One of it`s previous owners put `loud pipes` on it and when he went to put the originals back on to sell it to a dealer, he didn`t use the original Triumph bolts, but just some hexagonal headed things and one has snapped off leaving the rest in the silencer. The mechanic is unwilling to attempt to remove it incase he strips the thread, which I can well imagine happening , so at the moment, I have one silencer attached by only one original Triumph bolt. My local dealer advised me that it would be OK just pottering around Jersey on it, but if I went to the mainland, I should replace both silencers! Yeh, right! :ug:

Dudette, that is not a major task. An Easy-Out should remove that broken bolt and just replace it with the proper bolt. Look on EBay for OEM or stock Bonneville silencers. Sometimes you can find them on forums for free. I will keep my out for a left one or a pair. There are two reasons the dealer told you to replace both silencers: (1) he wants to make a parts sale and (2) they only come in pairs from the factory.

You may be able to remove it with an "EZ out". It's a sort of reverse threaded screw of sorts for lack of a better description. It has a square end you can grab with a wrench, and it is tapered. What you do is start a very small hole in the screw with a drill using a tiny bit. Thats so you can center it well. then use a larger bit to make a hole big enough to get the tip of the EZ out into. Preferably maybe 1/4" of it. Then insert the EZ out and turn it with a adjustable wrench or whatever you can grab the square end with. Turn it counterclockwise and it should grip the bolt and allow you to turn it out. I've used them and they work great. No reason you should have to trash the pipe just because of this.

Thank you guys, I guessed that would be the solution, just needed confirmation, now I just have to find someone to do it! Once these guys over here realize you know what you`re talking about, they do seem to take us girls a bit more seriously. But it`s still an uphill struggle. I would do it myself, but I have so many other commitments, it`s a question of finding the time.

If you do end up buying one pipe, make sure it matches. Don't know about the Bonnies, but the America/Speedmaster TORs changes at some point, and a couple of people even got mis-matched pairs. The newer stock America/Speedmaster pipes have a more restrictive catalytic section than the old ones.

I have a pair of standard pipes which you can have, free, with my compliments, but they'll probably cost you more in freight charges than they're worth!

Hi dudette,
I had the same problem, I got my bolt out using an ezee-out, soaked it overnight in penetrating oil and it eventually came out. If you want to buy a pair there is a pair on ebay uk, buy it now price £95 plus £12 postage. I don't know how to insert a link but if you search ebay for 'Triumph T100 Bonneville Standard Silencers' that is what they are listed as. They end on 21st August.
Good luck.

Standard silencers for `03 T100 are at around £300. I`m hoping to bid successfully on Ebay, and YES, I have checked the serial numbers match! Sorry, SO used to talking to dealers, who treat me like a mushroom. At least that way I`ll have a spare set in case of, dare I say, accidents? Next thing on the list will be a rear light assembly. being made of plastic, it of course, has broken at the base, immediately under the red lamp. No big deal, and the gaffer tape is doing a fine job, but the fact that I know it`s broken does niggle. And does anyone else have to actually use their knees ( like on a horse) to get theirs to take a corner? Is this `cos it has a bit of a long wheel base? :y102:

I know what the Triumph price is. Here in the US where many folks replace the stock pipes, you can get them for the cost of shipping plus $25 -50$ USD. If I had not already given mine away, I would send them to you.

Unless the standard silencers are in demand in GB, these are overpriced.

Hi CarlS,
exhausts do seem to fetch a fairly high price on ebay, I have seen them sell anywhere from £75 to £200, depending on how many people are bidding.
I sold a second hand pair of TORS on ebay and they made £200. I also had a complete standard Yamaha TDM 850 system and it made £225!

Hello CarlS, and thanks for the links to the light suppliers, I`m on the case! Have secured a apir of brand new pipes, previous owner is putting `louder`ones on his brand new bike (?) they cost me £100, so that`s that sorted. The local police over here on this little rock are a bit demonic when it comes to noisy bikes, so I`m keeping mine standard thank you! I have enough trouble keeping my licence as it is with speed limits anything from 15 to max of 40 miles an hour on the whole island.

Those speed limits would drive me crazy! I don't even go into fifth gear at 40; but I do have an 18 tooth primary sprocket as opposed to the 17 tooth stock sprocket. Glad the links were help.
