Well I finally watched the Movie "The Bucket List" this weekend, WOW, what an amazing moving and it really made me think about my life and what i want to do with it.....

So I started my own Bucket list today of things that I would like to do.... and places and that I would love to go to............

Here is a website that i found for some idea's and inspiration for your very own Bucket List....

Enjoy!!!

When I retired in 1992 I had a list of things (mostly travel) I wanted to do. Back then it was just a list whereas today it's called a "bucket list."
We travelled and saw and did some things on the list, but then my wife became quite ill. That put a halt to our travels for four years although I have travelled with others recently while she stayed at home.
That, of course, leaves me with some guilt.
Seeing the Rocky Mountains and the Grand Canyon in North America are on the list and have yet to be crossed off.
In July 2010 I've booked a motorcycle tour of the Canadian Rocky Mountains and following that I hope that the two of us will get to the Grand Canyon now that her health has improved and is stable.
I hope this doesn't sound like bragging, but we've been to Bermuda, on a Caribbean cruise and saw London and Paris. As most of you know I rode a motorcycle in Chile and Peru in 2008.
When you reach my age losing the opportunity to travel for four years is quite a setback. You can never get the time back.
But who knows, maybe I'll get to New Zealand yet!
My advice is to do "it" while you can and as soon as you can. You only get to go around once.

Thanks Rocky, that is why I am doing it now, while i still can and see all the places that I want to see and everything.......

Grand Canyon is on my Bucket list as well......... Glad that your wife's health had improved and that she is stable......

You are not bragging, its great that you have travelled as much as you have, hopefully one day i will be able to share my travelling stories, with my family here on TT......

Last year, I got to cross off several items including going to Bonneville and Daytona, I'd still like to do an "Iron Butt" 1,000 mile ride, do a coast-to-coast ride, do a timed 150 MPH run, and ride in England. I've kinda let go of riding all 50 states, I'm happy with the 14 I've done and will probably get to 20 pretty easily.

Besides that, I'd like to see the Grand Canyon & Mount Rushmore, and dive on the Great Barrier Reef.

Rocky if you worked hard for it like you have then it ain't bragging at all. You are reaping the fruits of your labour and that is one thing to be very proud of in my books. :y115:

Yes I know Dave, but I don't want to come off sounding like "Mr. Bigshot" or something like that.
I've done pretty well for myself, but I wouldn't want anyone thinking that I'm showing off or throwing it anyones face.
I'm just "one of the guys" here and wouldn't want to be thought of as anything else.

I have done all but eleven things on my bucket list. More importantly, there is a small group of us in the PGR that try to provide motorcycle rides to both kids and adults who are terminal. You cannot believe the feeling it gives you to make a dream come true for someone like that. Sometimes we get to accomplish a couple of things on a bucket list simultaneously by giving them a ride to some specific place they want to visit or to some activity they wish to do, for example giving a young boy a ride in the sidecar to visit a fire station.

Not in the way of bragging, but more along the lines of wanting to tell people how I am just another guy here, too (thanx, Rocky) and God is mighty big when you open your eyes and take a look. I come from a big family (10 kids) where the only luxury Dad could afford was private school; that meant that we could pretty much be WHATEVER WE WERE WILLING TO WORK HARD TO BECOME.

I wasted my youth, but am proud to say I served my country for four years, then settled down in our relatively small hometown and just worked and sweat in my shop for lots of years. Somewhere along the way, God straightened me out, turned my life around and has blessed me beyond what I could ever ask for, far more than I deserve, and certainly more than I could ever do on my own ability.

So, as for stuff I've gotten to do that may not have entered my mind as a young person trying to write down a "bucket list":

-25-plus years happily married to the most wonderful woman in the world, 4 great kids and 4 beautiful granddaughters,

-Scuba diving in 100 feet of glass-clear water in Cozumel, Mexico, looking down into the pitch black abyss over 3,000 feet deep,

-Ultralight aircraft flight (powered and "dead stick"); even defying death when landing dead-stick, touching a 6,000 volt high-line with the tail skid as I JUST cleared the powerlines!

-Tandem parachute jump from 10,000 feet on a glorious clear day,

-Snow skiing at Angel Fire, New Mexico in perfect weather and conditions,

-An epic 15-minute struggle with a 39" Red Drum at the power plant cooling pond in Corpus Christi, TX, with my Dad finally netting the lunker for me as I got him to shore with my arms cramping so hard I couldn't have fought another minute. I managed to keep the wily old Red from breaking me off by running down the bank away from the concrete abutments, keeping the line taught all the while,

-3rd place Season Championship finish in AHRMA Formula 500 on a borrowed Kawasaki 500 triple with a swap meet engine in it to miraculously finish the season after blowing up the race engine in a previous race. Also scored a 5th place season finish on a scratch-built "junkyard dog" '69 Triumph Bonneville 650 against overhead cam Honda 750 fours,

-Set a class speed record at the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats on my Triumph Bonneville,

-RACED (not just attended) the Daytona International Speedway, on the trusty Bonnie; my first time ever at the track. Also raced Road America, Miller Motorsports Park & the Sandia Classic at Albuquerque,

-Built a collection of classic Triumphs, Nortons, BSAs, Hondas, Kawasakis & Yamahas, with the odd Moto Guzzi, Penton and Rickman Montesa,

-Organized and promoted 8 wonderful charity fundraiser motorcycle shows with the help of my wyfe & kids, making a lasting impression on many young people locally, and helping promote the passtime we all enjoy,

-Hundreds of opportunities to speak publicly (including these forums) and proclaim that my story is not one of my making, but one that anyone can achieve and easily exceed with faith & trust in God and the willingness to GET OUT THERE AND DO IT.

I sincerely don't mean to offend anyone who is "religiously sensitive", but my story is MY story, it actually happened TO ME the way I've just said it.

Grandpaull - wow that is amazing........

Thanks for all the other responses, nice to know that there are other people doing it, I mentioned it to a few people here at work and got very strange loooks from them!!!!

Oh well, Have an amazing day everyone!!!!!

Love to you all!

I'll tell you what's REALLY amazing-

The items on the list that are checked off, the items that are not checked off, and the items we keep adding to the list, all mean NOTHING in the face of death when those moments confront us.

Whether it be ourselves, our family members, or our riding friends. None of the items on these lists amount to a hill of beans when you are staring at your loved one on a stretcher and the EMTs look worried, or when the doctor comes into the room with a blank look on his face, or when you see that Buick turn left into your path.

Thanx to one and all on this forum, for being genuine friends, even though many of us have never shaken hands. Having you treat me the way you do is better than checking an item off my list (I never really had a list, anyway).

Very nice words and very well said GP :y115: :y115: :y18:
I have often thought how nice it would be to meet the folks here and shake their hand.
Your list of things done is very impressive too!

Hear! Hear! Well said and very true.

Rocky, I can tell you that Paul, along with Sally, are two of the finest folks you could ever meet. Mae Lyne and I are blessed to have spent time with them and count them as personal friends.

When I got sick I started up a 'bucket list' - all those things you say you are gonna get round to experiencing but never find the time. I've crossed some of the list off and haven't really added any more to it.

However, one of the items on my list is illegal. Should I leave this one to last? Perhaps I should remove it... I dunno.

It all depends on how much fun it is :y26: :y46: :y21:
