Any recommendations? Heard a center stand is the way to go, however if I'm going to be doing other work (other than chain maintenance), like replacing the Cat and so forth, would the $250 be better spent elsewhere?

Thanks in advance

I couldn't get by without a center stand, but I also have paddock stands to get one or both wheels up off the ground for some work like taking the wheels in for new tires.
They also lift the bike a bit higher for working under it.

my current set up is two paddock stands front and rear. A lot depends on what you plan to do. If you are doing all your own maintenance, a proper lift table is a good idea. If you're just changing oil and chain adjusting a paddock stand with both spool and paddle brackets is all you need, or a center jack for times when you want to raise the bike off both wheels.
