Battery Charging

Hello all. Just bought a street twin and on reading the handbook on charging the battery, it says to remove it from the bike. Why?

I've always added a flying lead to the battery so my charger can connect to it quickly and reliably anytime.

any ideas as to why triumph says I can't would be appreciated.

You should not have a problem doing as you intend, but Triumph's lawyers are trying to avoid all liability for any mistake you make.

My Street Twin spends the Northwest winters in my storage shed. Yesterday I hooked up the "C-tech" battery charger and fully charged the battery. Ran the extension cord across the lawn to the shed and plugged the charger into the quick connect attached to the battery terminals. I'll repeat this procedure once a month over the winter. If the temperature approaches zero I'll disconnect the battery and store in garage.

I keep my bikes on battery chargers all winter.
Done this for many years.
Never took them out of the bikes.
Never any problems.
