So -- what's the thinking on leaving the air injection system alone, and living with the popping noises, or removing the system? (I'm in the US - I understand it's required in some other countries?)

I've read the pros of removing the system -- slightly worse for the environment, less bluing of the pipes, lower exhaust gas temps -- but does it pretty much boil down to a personal preference?

I liked the sound at first, but lately I find myself getting annoyed with it when I'm riding on some deserted country road. Then it sounds a bit intrusive.

I've looked at this kit from Revzilla and am wondering if it's a tough mod to make for a relative newbie.

TIA, y'all --

I left mine alone but it has carbs and I've never hear any popping sound.
Yours is fuel injected so I'm sure the ECU will make the necessary adjustment.
But to tell the truth I really don't know anything about it.
It probably does come down to just personal preference.

@SarahP I did my one on the carbs and the kit basically looks the same from what I can see. It was really easy to do and did not take that long, I also changed out my pipes to short slash that same afternoon.

DaveM and Hemibee -

As always, Google is (probably) my friend -- I'm pretty sure there's a tutorial online about how to do the air injector removal, and I thought it was a little (ok, a lot!) above my skill level. After some more riding recently, I've decided I'd definitely like to fix the popping because it's become annoying/distracting.

Y'all can expect to see my anguished pleas for advice on the procedure in a future post.
