The Dakar and the KLR650 are both too big and heavy for my purpose of purely dirt riding. I am looking for something in the 250 - 350 cc range - light and manageable. Here in Florida, I only need to be able to go from sea level to a couple of hundred feet. I would have to to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho or Montana to find a 10,000 ft elevation. :y2: Florida has a lot of dry sand that we call sugar sand. It does not pack unless it is extremely wet. Even 4X4's get stuck in it unless they have huge tires. Therefore I need a light bike for those areas.

I have had my Tiber 800 XC in some pretty challenging place - way above my skill level. I t does fine in mud and in rocks; but the rider needs a lot more experience in both! A motocross bike it is not. But it does very well for off pavement riding. Here is a link to my first adventure ride.

This thread hijack is now complete :y2:!

Wow, that was quite a ride you did on the 800- very impressive!

We are adept at hijacking around here! BGRIN

Thank you, Dave. That was my first off road adventure since the late 1960's. This summer, I plan to ride the XC from Orlando, FL to Seattle Washington and back. This is a bucket list trip.
