Really is a decent helmet for the $. And the crash replacement guarantee (though possibly just a marketing gimmick) seems to say they make a quality product and you WILL survive the crash and when you do.......we give you a new lid. Or its just marketing b.s.

thanks for all the tips guys.

In the mean time......

blocking up the visor vent and removing the mouth guard has had a good effect.

The wind is now direct straight at my top lip and nose. There is no longer a direct blast into my eyes, although there is still air flow around my face.

I think this will do me until I get a new helmet, which I intend to purchase over the next month or so.

...

G, I am glad to hear that you found a solution. Now you will have a standy helmet after you purchase your new one. Do let us know what you get.

I cannot recall seeing a SPARX this side before

Dave, the Sparx is an economy helmet; but with superb safety ratings.

I would say of all the helmets I have owned over the years, for the $ I like the Sparx. Money not entering into it, I love my AGV. ( which to be honest I got for next to nothing in a trade deal for some t-shirts......so I kinda cheated on this one) BUT when I am going to purchase a new helmet out of pocket I would most certainly go directly to SPARX. Friends own Arai and Shoie Suomy Shark, and Bell and a Shuberth. And in side by side comparo's the Sparx looks and appears every bit as good as all but the Arai and Shuberth (which costs hundreds and hundreds more) Of course (thankfully) none of us have had the chance to test the crash "ability" of any of the above listed lids...and hopefully never will.... but the Sparx is truly the best quality helmet for the $ I have found. On any other bike it works wonderfully, the 955i Tiger has "special" buffeting issues that make all but the AGV less than ideal. I would say that was my .02 cents but I guess its more like $1.25 sorry for the longwindedness. :y2:

Sparx is definitely one of the best values for the money. I tested a Vega and, thankfully, it worked well. I liked my Vega; but the HJC has better ventilation, a feature which is important in this climate.

VERY TRUE on the ventilation being KEY.

I hear its been so hot Aerostitch is working on an air conditioned riding suit ! :y24:

I'm actually surprised the Goldwing doesn't come standard with it......it has everything else.

Actually some NASCAR drivers have cooling suits. The technology is there. Now whether a motorcycle alternator would support such a system is another question. I could sure use one about now! :y2:

I know the feeling Carl.
No way to describe this year other than "nasty hot". Go out early do chores and stay in till about 5 or 6 when it starts to "cool" off. Thats my M.O.
